I hope the spammers in this thread know that even in a thread like this, you are easily spotted and reported, and still unwanted scum of the earth. Just thought you should know

What kind of pockets can fit an iPad?

    A joke, yes?

In the event not, I was talking about the sleeve when it isn't in use.

My first iPad case review, I haven't even got my hands on an iPad yet, and I've got cases flooding in!

It's a pretty good slip case with a ton of padding, and I'll roll up and fit (albeit somewhat snugly) into a pocket when not in use. Thumbs up! I've also got the Mizu Shell in from Proporta which is a thick-ish silicone case... I can't imagine ever wanting to use it, though, as the iPad's aesthetic would be ruined!

Will be getting my hands on some other cases from Noreve, Sena, Knomo and more soon. The quest for the ultimate iPad case begins!

I ended up with this leather one from Amazon for $14.95 (prime free shipping). Its nicely made, works great. But unless I'm transporting it or using it in stand mode, I generally pull the iPad out and use it without a case. So much more natural and light.

The one I bought does not have the CTC logo crap on it (see the other pictures), which is weird since when I ordered it it didn't have it in the pictures. And the stand is 'adjustable' which is laughable since you are talking millimeters. But the quality is quite good, it looks good too.

For $15, it can't be beat, imho.

I've taken a quick look at the Mizu shell from Proporta, too, I don't much like it, but I've always hated silicone cases. I guess the benefit would be that it'll lay better on a coffee table and give you unfettered access... but it'll not be very well protected in a bag.

    Edit:

Vaja and Piel Frama cases in. Sheesh are they nice. The former especially so, but at $170 it really should be!

Last thing I wanted to do is hide the iPad in a case, so I use it naked and carry it in a Hard Candy case. The fit is great and provides all the protection it needs to carry it around in or stuff it in a backpack, briefcase or computer bag.

It's beautifully made, but will cover over the back of your iPad. The photos show up some of the rough, hand-made cuts in the leather, and other imperfections but they're not so obvious in normal use.

It's a good contender for best case, but lacks any features such as a stand, or pockets for.. whatever you might put in iPad case pockets. It's very, very basic and very expensive, but it'll damned well make your iPad unique. For those that are dead set on showing off, don't worry. People will still be able to tell it's an iPad. How many other popular tablet computers are out there to confuse it with!?

When I bought my iphone, I started with a big case that surrounded the phone, then I realized that such a case destroys the sleek design elements Apple worked so hard to implement, so I went with the thinnest plastic case and the thin film on the screen. Then I dropped my phone once or twice. Then I noticed there was a small crack down the middle near the dock connector. So I decided to ditch the case altogether! Now I'm happy using my caseless phone and I'm just trying to keep my 3G alive long enough to get the new one when it comes out.

However, what to do about ipad? Unlike the iphone, which you need handy on a moments notice, the use of ipad may not be quite so urgent. More like a laptop. Do you get a "sleeve" that is meant to protect the device during transport, but gives you the ability to use ipad as designed, without any extra bulk or weight when in use? But then what about viewing angles and typing? You need a stand, and possibly a keyboard. That's a lot of stuff to lug around...

Do you get a flip top book jacket thingy, which looks cool in theory, but will make it difficult to dock, heavier to hold, etc..,?

Is there such a thing as a flip top case where the ipad easily detaches for use out of the case?

What about a sleeve that comes with a little folding ipad stand? or a sleeve that can be folded by some combination of straps to form a handy stand?

If any of these designs end up working well, please send me some royalties.

Is there a support group for people obsessing, not over the ipad, but over the CASE?

Sir,may soft silicon case cover is your best choice!please see more information htthttp://www.elekcommerce.com/products.asp?page=1&bid=1&sid=2&tid=7,also please feel free to contact me if you need any help/.

Yes, the gentleman living in the 1950s can simply customise their case with two understated shades of brown, to ensure their fragile masculinity is not compromised by all those confusing girly colours.

If you're of a slightly more recent generation, there is the option of a medallion case which will allow you to festoon your raucously hairy man-chest with a golden iPad, peeking betwixt your open shirt collar. With this, you can ensure that every passing lady sees just how wealthy and masculine you are, as you hawk rusty second hand cars to teenage first-time drivers, sealing each sale with a hearty slap on the back and returning every female glance with lewd comments.

Alternatively, you could simply wrap your iPad in the still-bloody hides of freshly slain animals and decorate them with shark teeth and finger-bones, dragging it behind you with your woman, as you retreat to your cave to gnaw on your catch.

I have two bags, an incase Slip Sleeve Plus which is a simple light weight sleeve type bag that, while not ideal-- too tight and difficult to close over the iPad-- is functional, and as of today a Waterfield SleeveCase-Ultimate-Horizonal, which for me looks like it's going to be the perfect bag; you can use it either as a sleeve bag or a carry bag.

    Links for the Waterfield bag.

One thing I've noticed is that prices for iPad bags seem artificially inflated because of the newness of the tablet. Hopefully prices will drop when there's a wider choice and more competition.

My observations of friends, family and others (as well as my own personal experience) with many iPod, iPhones, iTouches etc. has shown me this.

The more "naked" the device is, the faster it gets damaged or suffers from wear and tear.

The longer the device stays in a complete durable case the better. The thicker and more drop resistant the better.

The more a device is inserted and removed from some cases increases the scratches the device receives from unseen debris.

The case type that protects the touchscreen when not in use is ideal, better if it has a lanyard or a velcro type attachment ability.

Keeping the device out of direct sunlight and heat prolongs the battery.

Naturally, keeping the device out of view and not mounted in sight on one's dashboard all the time reduces theft.

Switching the standard earbuds from the iconic Apple white reduces unwanted attention.

The iPad's touchscreen appears to me to be acrylic, therefore it will shatter. A naked device or a case that doesn't cover the screen when not in use presents some problems. Does one keep the device face down or face up when not in use? Both situations have their hazards.

A case that covers the screen should be strong enough to carry and distribute weight from other objects accidentally placed upon it, transferring the weight through the case, instead of onto the iPad. Preferably have some sort of identification on the outside that reminds the owner before they just decide to drop a bunch of heavy textbooks on it.

A case that has a integrated keyboard, touchpad and USB port on the screen cover side would be a nice benefit as one can make connections and charge the iPad without removing from the case.

lol, just shows how different tastes can be. That's why it is best to state one's own preference as a preference rather than fact.

In my opinion, an integrated keyboard case would horrible for an iPad. Much of the attraction of an iPad is that it isn't encumbered by all that stuff. Same thing for a flip-over screen protector.

Case scratches? Not a primary concern for me. Thicker case? Wouldn't want it.

For me, the primary reason for an iPad case is grip-ability. Scratch protection is secondary.

I was asking a serious question. The color, stamped logos and metal decorations are feminine. Enjoy your purse.
