I think it's in Apple's best interest to let someone else buy Palm if the buyer can increase WebOS's presence. A diffuse marketplace will help Apple in the long run, I think. Apple could have easily put a camera and other features in this model. You can see where it's ready to be installed when you take this model apart.
Been using them since system 7, haven't known anything else. Plus, its really difficult to get a decent trackpad on a PC notebook. That being said, with Jobs biases and eccentricities being transferred to the company, it isn't always easy.

WebOS is just Linux...like Maemo or Android.
Though the nice thing about it is that Palm will allow you to claim the root login without voiding the warranty. It's not a first in the industry, but that's a lot better terms than what you get with Android or Apple phones, where it's "hack at your own risk".
Palm really dropped the ball on marketing though...
