What's wrong with not liking somebody because of their religion?? This is a free world. Shit, look at the wars that have been fought because of religion.
BullShit. Grow up and join the real world. People are going to be dislike for a number of reasons, the music they listen to, their hair style etc.. People need to get over the fact that somebody is NOT going to like somebody for some reason.. Somebody, I forget who it is, here has the sig that goes something like Men are from earth, Women are from earth, deal with it. Dude, deal with it...
I'm not sure you can call something bigotry when the source of contention is as patently ridiculous as the tenets of Mormonism. That's all I'm going to say.

Let's not head down the road the previous thread did. If you all want to *reasonably* discuss the LDS religion, so be it. Let's not make it a mud-slinging, hate-perpetuating thread like the last was.
The FACT is that everyone has their own opinions on various issues. If you think Mormons are weird for whatever reason, you're probably just as weird for your own reasons. Get over it.
Argumentation for the sake of arguing will get this thread nowhere fast. Reasonable discussion will address the issues that make Mormonism different from other faiths, without condemning the denomination because they have beliefs that you see as contradictory to your own.
It's probably reasonable to say that no religion's beliefs will end up being harmful to you if you aren't a part of it. If you aren't Mormon, why incite detrimental discussion about them when you aren't affected by what they believe?
Discuss reasonably. Play nice. Don't hate. Peace out.
Hey if people can say they don't like Mormaons then can others say they don't like muslims? Or jews? or catholics? oh wait that would be "wrong".

No no no. If you point out the obvious failings of the islamic/arab world then you are a bigot. That's because they are the world's underdogs right now. Mormons are not on the liberal elites' protected list so not only is it okay to hate them but it's un-PC not to say so.
I might group Mormons closer to Jehova's Witnesses, Hare Chrishnas, and Scientologists, than I would to Muslims, Christians, and Jews.
And what makes one better than the other? Can you even quantify it?

Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, etc. are such major religions that to make fun of one of those major categories would be long and difficult,...
BUT if you can make fun of a specific denomination that deviates JUUUUUST enough from the "norm" of the other denominations in a main category, that's okay.
EXAMPLE: Catholicism, Lutheranism, etc. are mainstream enough in the Christian faith that it's pointless to try criticizing them, but Mormonism...well that's another story. They're *wacko* enough of a Christian faith that anything is free game.
Am I right?
This thread is bigoted. As was the last one. the last one got locked because someone could not talk in a somewhat intelligent manner about what the conversation was. (you know who you are)
Threads like this are helpful and not helpful all at the same time. You want to know the public face of the LDS or Mormon church look no further than their own Website. I don't know that it is going to be enough for you (and I am not a Mormon, nor do I agree with a lot of what they believe) but check for your answers there first. Then if you want to talk on it in an intelligent manner I am sure people would love to talk (argue) with you.

It's easy. All brown people who are not Christians or Jews.
Just like it was easy to think that blacks were inherently inferior in the 19th century.
