Steve's "Genius" is mainly in user interaction and process work flow in my eyes. His targeted vision that has made all of Apple's products work together seemlessly is his mark on the industry. A lot of people criticize his tight grip on the products/apps, but that's the only way to achieve such a high level of great user interaction and product performance.
Please drop the antenna issue already. I saw a you tube video that showed a guy using his IP4 with the "Death Grip", no bars, call was on speakerphone, and it was just as clear as with 5 bars. My buddy has no issues. Get over it!
Forbes has put it well. Steve Jobs has truly changed 4 different industries. He really has forsight into product developement. And while people look to pick on faults there is no denying that he is a genius. The best part was how forbes said how anticipation around new products turn into holidays. It's true people look forward to APPLES new product launches with more anticipation than a holiday.
Take your Nexus One phone and place your thumb over the bottom right corner and watch your bars drop. Then take a piece of masking tape and write iPhone on it and place it over the Nexus One name so that you can say "See my iPhone sucks"
Apple sells millions of iPhone 4's and Johnny Ive is a brilliant designer.
I see the world has indeed "moved on" from the antenna issue. Just curious, how did we end up dismissing it? It didn't really happen or it just doesn't matter?
Anybody catch the article over at 9 to 5 Mac about an iP4 catching on fire?

Okay, we're going with "it just doesn't matter."
Thanks. I just needed the official line. As someone who totes a MacBook around at work, I am expected to answer for the company.
I would like to know what changes Steve insisted were made to the iPad. I read somewhere that the launch was delayed because when they brought the first version to him he said it needed a number of major changes. Would be fascinated to know what these changes were as I think it would be highly indicative of his impact on the firm.
up until iPhone 4, I would agree. but this has been one huge fk up.
Another incisive, penetrating iPhone 4 analysis from someone who's obviously never used one.
FWIW I own an iPhone 4, can make it do the antenna thing at will, and don't find it much more than a curiosity. It's easy to avoid if your IQ is higher than a watermelon's. Or use a case, as many people would anyway.
I guess having glass on both sides theoretically doubles the chance of glass breakage. But jeez, these are very expensive pieces of kit, not Fisher Price kiddy toys. If you take proper care of them then doubling the very small chance of breakage will still be a very small chance of breakage.

My IQ must be even lower than a melon's... I can't get my bars to drop at all.
Steve Jobs and Jony Ive get my vote. And I predict the iPhone 4 will win some awards too. It will put a "death grip" on the competition....especially when Verizon comes on board.

One doesn't have to love or even like Apple products over the last 13 years to appreciate two things:
1) Jobs has a unique ability to drive an idea through to full execution - from idea to design to production to marketing to sale - that any consumer product company can only envy. Love or hate the product, but he has repeatedly achieved commercial success.
2) Ive is nothing short of an artist in industrial design - a sentiment almost unilaterally felt by his peers.
You will pardon those of us who give anonymous forum posters only their fair due who disagree with the underlying pinnings of the Forbes ranking.
I'm not flaming you, but I am curious if you have first hand experience with the iPhone 4. Cuz if you don't, that would make you and inverse fanboi, just the sort of person who spouts off without any real knowledge of the topic.

I'll go hide under my desk now while the fanbois shoot flames and lasers at me.

Why not mention other failures. The Cube for example or my personal favorite. The puck mouse or perhaps just the mouse.
The phone just isn't a strong example because it's a problem all mobile phones face. The mouse on the other hand has been done fairly well by plenty and yet Apple has only just made a mostly usable one after decades of struggle.
Thanks. I just needed the official line. As someone who totes a MacBook around at work, I am expected to answer for the company.
Oh, this is what I say, ready? "I've had the phone for over two weeks now and there isn't really a problem. I haven't had any problems with any of my calls."
You don't have one you say? Here's what you say: "I don't know. I don't have one yet, so I couldn't really answer you from firsthand knowledge. I know the press is all over them, but I haven't heard anything lately. From what I've read from Anandtech and Consumer's Reports, the iPhone antenna issue is much ado about nothing."

Since when is it being made of glass an issue? You know plastic breaks if dropped too?! (shooting flames, lasers, lightning bolts)

Smartest guy?
This the same guy that just released a phone that people can't make calls from?
And the other schmuck, is the actual designer of the phone that can't make and reciee calls unless of course you hold it in a certain way.
No way, tell me this can not be true.
Forbes is a loser magazine anyway, sales way down probably near folding!
It gives me so many more posters to add to my Ignore List.
And yeah, there's an iPhone 4 app for that too.

Care to explain how that managed to happen from a phone that people can't make calls from.
You fail troll.
