Well, while he does have his facts a bit off (Apple/Jobs did not 'buy' disney), Disney actually was a dysfunctional mess under Eisner. What Disney's purchase of Pixar did was
1) bring Jobs' influence to Disney as largest stockholder, which has clearly been beneficial, and
2) essentially put John Lasseter in charge to Disney animation, which DID save Disney.
I guess this shows what sort of ethics are acceptable at Oracle.
Lie about business expenses, have an affair with a contractor and give her money either to keep her quiet or to prime the relationship.
If the boss thinks embezzlement, fraudulent financial reporting and sexual harassment are ok, what does that say about the existing management at Oracle?
Could you please give us a few citations about these claims, for instance court proceedings that supports your claims.
The guy made HP a leaner and more successful company. I think he did well for that company.
I think that is fair. There was nothing wrong with Disney, but they were not really the best anymore. Not that they were doing anything wrong, it is just that the world of cartoons moved to 3D. Eventually it could cause their image to erode.
Spiffy, but what does it have to do with Apple? Apple doesn't make a product that competes with Oracle. Oracle's DB doesn't even run on the Mac.
While a good story for Ars Technica or Slashdot or Wired or a host of other tech blogs, I don't see how this is relevant to an Apple focused news & rumors site.

Well HP is literally right next door to Apple. They are a competitor (and a partner in some areas). I think major news about Apple competitors belong here (with an Apple slant of course).

But Oracle got Sun=Java. Mark could make it shinning sun all over again. a bit wool over your eyes? hehehe.
Personally, I think Oracle made a huge mistake by hiring Hurd. Not just because of the above, but because he comes to Oracle with a cloud over his integrity. There are any number of qualified executives that could run Orcale's Sun Hardware business, including John Fowler Oracle's current VP of Sun Hardware. John is honest, talented, and well-respected respected. Hurd just brings a 'soap opera' mentality to Oracle in my opinion...

Yeah, sure, and that's why Oracle's stock price went up by 7% (on a market-adjusted basis), for a gain of nearly $8B.
This is the best thing to have happened to Oracle shareholders in a while.

Wow. It must be nice to construct your own reality. Tell me one quote in any of the links you've provided where Mark Hurd is shown to have "Lie[d] about business expenses, [had] an affair with a contractor and [gave] her money either to keep her quiet or to prime the relationship..." and was accused of " ...embezzlement"!?
You know, people like you and dm3 should not hide behind the anonymity offered by these types of forums to dish out unsubstantiated dirt.

He lied

The findings of the investigation were as follows. Mark had a close personal relationship with an HP contractor who was hired by the office of the CEO and Mark never disclosed that relationship to the Board of Directors. The investigation revealed numerous instances where the contractor received compensation and/or expense reimbursement where there was not a legitimate business purpose. And the investigation found numerous instances where inaccurate expense reports were submitted by Mark or on his behalf that intended to or had the effect of concealing Mark's personal relationship with the contractor.
Based on these facts, the Board concluded Mark's conduct demonstrated a profound lack of judgment. As Mark stated himself in the press release, quote, I realized that there were instances in which I did not live up to the standards and principles of trust, respect, and integrity that I have espoused at HP, close quote.
I never said there was sexual relationship, that was the other guy. It's up to you and your spouse if you classify a close emotional relationship as an affair or not.
(Reuters) - Hewlett-Packard Co's former chief executive officer Mark Hurd has reached a legal settlement with the woman who accused him of sexual harassment, and she has also agreed to release HP from legal claims, according to sources familiar with the matter.

I still think this is a mistake regardless of what the stock price does in the short run. We'll just have to see how this plays out in the long run...
