I just saw the Daniel Pearl video...

I was reading articles on wired.com and one was written about a web site who posted the video of Daniel Pearl's execution. The FBI reportedly told them to take it off or face charges.

I won't post any links here. You find it yourself. But I wanted to see it. It starts out as any terrorist propaganda video. Pearl is reading a statement from the terrorists. Then he is beheaded and his head is held toward the camera. I was very upset. It's not for the weak.

After seeing it I have one thought only. Find these killers...all terrorists. Don't arrest them, put them on trial and have them rot in jail...just remove them from the face of the Earth. Kill them all. Oh, would that be "just like them"? No, it should be like killing rats in my opinion. Shoot to kill.

I understand how some feel this way about it. I felt that seeing would justify my feelings towards terrorists (human trash). It did. It also made me very sad. That humans still do this insanity all for the sake of religion or politics.

    I won't ever watch it again either. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

Spoke of imperialist America, and the supposed massacre of Palestinian children. Spoke of the dictatorial regimes in the middle east and how no american will be safe traveling the world. Tried to paint him as a Zioninst Jew who deserved to die. It was all spliced togehter bits and pices of audio. There was no one part that fit another. They then typed out the demands at the end and were holding his severed head up to the camera while they scrolled by for many minutes. They posted that this would happen again and again if their demands were not met.

    Sick. Really sick.

People have a right to see the video if they want. I think CBS was justified in airing the video, and I don't agree with the FBI's demands to have it removed. The original site <a href="http://www.ogrish.com"; target="_blank">www.ogrish.com</a> has removed the video after legal threats by the FBI. Contrary to the Wired article, Ogrish's service providers, Prohosters.com, did not delete the file. They left that decision strictly to the webmaster, and it was his decision.

    That said, you can find the video in a lot of places on the net. Since I believe you have a right to see it: <a href="http://download.consumptionjunction.com/multimedia/cj_9833.RAM"; target="_blank">http://download.consumptionjunction.com/multimedia/cj_9833.RAM</a>;

Frankly I'm a little disconcerted that the FBI even thinks they have a legal recourse to demand that the video be taken down. I don't think it holds up in court.

This video is very popular amoung the peace loving arab muslims.

    From <a href="http://www.opinionjournal.com/best/?id=110001711"; target="_blank">Best of the Web</a>

    <a href="http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/05/14/attack/main509059.shtml"; target="_blank">Muslim Snuff Film</a>

"Enemies of the United States are spreading on the Internet a gruesome piece of propaganda," CBS News reports. "It is a videotape of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, who was kidnapped and murdered earlier this year in Pakistan. And it is being used by terrorists to recruit new soldiers for the cause." The video includes Arabic subtitles:

"The translation is in Arabic because the audience is Arabic," says Ali al-Ahmed, a dissident Saudi Arabian journalist, who found it on the Web a few days ago. "The audience for this Web site are young Saudis, college students, high school students and unemployed Saudis," he says.Â*.Â*.Â*.

What is perhaps most shocking is that some viewers do not find it repulsive. "The first place where they had it on most of the people who commented on the tape, they said, 'I wish I was there. I wish I had done it,'Â*" says al-Ahmed.

This is shocking but not altogether surprising. It's the latest manifestation of the cult of death that is becoming all too widespread in the Muslim world. In The Atlantic Monthly, <a href="http://www.theatlantic.com/issues/2002/06/brooks.htm"; target="_blank">David Brooks</a> observes:

Suicide bombing is the crack cocaine of warfare. It doesn't just inflict death and terror on its victims; it intoxicates the people who sponsor it. It unleashes the deepest and most addictive human passions--the thirst for vengeance, the desire for religious purity, the longing for earthly glory and eternal salvation. Suicide bombing isn't just a tactic in a larger war; it overwhelms the political goals it is meant to serve. It creates its own logic and transforms the culture of those who employ it.

"Snuff films"--movies depicting an actual murder for the purpose of entertainment--have long been rumored to exist. But according to the urban myth-busters at <a href="http://www.snopes2.com/horrors/madmen/snuff.htm"; target="_blank">Snopes.com</a>, "Not so much as one snuff film has been found. Time and again, what is originally decried in the press as a film of a murder turns out, upon further investigation, to be a fake." (The <a href="http://webcenter.newssearch.netscape.com/aolns_display.adp?key=200205142309000111005_aolns. src" target="_blank">Associated Press</a> reports that in Pakistan, where Pearl's alleged killers are on trial, the judge admitted the death video as evidence over defense objections that it was phony.)

Muslim fundamentalists often boast of their own piety and complain about the "moral decay" of the West; this <a href="http://www.arabnews.com/Article.asp?ID=14984"; target="_blank">Arab News</a> article lamenting the influence of MTV on young Saudis is an example. Now it appears their coreligionists have generated a cultural product so obscene that it has no precedent in the purportedly depraved West.

I can't make myself watch it. The movie link is sitting here on my desktop. I tried opening it once, and as soon as it started my heart started pounding and I quit the app. I finally trashed it. The thought alone is too frightening, too horrible.

I guess these people never heard that two wrongs don't make a right (despite that Far Side with the complicated calculus seemingly proving otherwise.)

Bu$h probably never heard of that either. A "Peace" Conference or something is needed ASAP to head off WWIII. Bu$h thinks bombing terrorists is going to make them think "oh ok I guess we'll go home and drink green tea now."?

NO. The UN is there for a reason. I know diplomats and committees slow things down, but can we really afford to make any more mistakes?

Afghanistan & Palestine (whatever the new state or land agreement is called) need stable governments, not bombs and Kings. (Yes, we put a King in Afghanistan)

Still, nothing justifies killing someone else that is innocent. I have not watched that video. I do not want to, and I do not need to. We know that it is pointless murder. I am too saddened to watch it. I am beyond expressing what I feel...

Oh, and the FBI? Don't they have more important things to do with their time, like stopping terrorism, rather than our civil rights?

I feel bad that I felt compelled to watch.

it makes me realize how complicated the power of horrible acts is: even good hearted people are fascinated by death and destruction. That's why I fear what's happening with Islam now.

I really don't thnk that all this is going to go away . . i fear that there may end up being a very large scale war with Islam on one side . . .just as soon as Islamic countries get powerfull enough.

I sense so much sarcasm here. The type which you advice, later on, that this is not the place for it.

In fact you remind me of those religious figures who stood behind the crowd throwing more fuel on the fire, with clear and pre-planned intention, asking the people to stone the adulteress. But you failed to refute Jesus when he asked all of you for a person to throw that first stone.

As for the terrorists, I just hope that their own so claimed just rules be applied on them and get them beheaded, only this time in public and for the rest of the world to watch.

I have no intention in watching the video, I fear that my reasoning will be defeated by my emotional reaction.

I'm no jingoist, but methinks the talk with the UN and other governments including the Taliban (which was our first step) would have done nothing by itself. As a matter of fact, that's exactly what happened: nothing.

Why rationalize with these monsters? Is it even possible? Sometimes it really is kill or be killed. That's pretty much what it has come to. If these so-called martyrs are eager to die, I'm willing to oblige them. If we roll over and don't fight, that sends a message too, but I don't thin it's the one you want to send to these ****-ups.

Uh, the king has no power AFIAK. Just because we and the interim government (which is supposed to give way to a freely elected one AFAIK) let him in the country doesn't mean he rules over anything except his hotel room.

    Something like that.

Judaism and Christianity is based on the "The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob", Islam is based on the "God of Abraham and Ishmael". So yes, it would follow that Islam would be against the Jews biblically because of this fact.

    Genesis 16:

11 The angel of the Lord also said to her:

    "You are now with child

and you will have a son.

    You shall name him Ishmael,

for the Lord has heard of your misery.

    12 He will be a wild donkey of a man;

his hand will be against everyone

    and everyone's hand against him,

and he will live in hostility

    toward all his brothers."

    Genesis 17:

18 And Abraham said to God, "If only Ishmael might live under your blessing!"

19 Then God said, "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. 20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation. 21 But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you by this time next year." 22 When he had finished speaking with Abraham, God went up from him.

    Genesis 25:

    Ishmael's Sons

12 This is the account of Abraham's son Ishmael, whom Sarah's maidservant, Hagar the Egyptian, bore to Abraham.

13 These are the names of the sons of Ishmael, listed in the order of their birth: Nebaioth the firstborn of Ishmael, Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, 14 Mishma, Dumah, Massa, 15 Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah. 16 These were the sons of Ishmael, and these are the names of the twelve tribal rulers according to their settlements and camps. 17 Altogether, Ishmael lived a hundred and thirty-seven years. He breathed his last and died, and he was gathered to his people. 18 His descendants settled in the area from Havilah to Shur, near the border of Egypt, as you go toward Asshur. And they lived in hostility toward all their brothers.

    And so it goes....

There is much sarcasm there. However, it stands up better to scrutiny than "Hey .. what's your problem ? the guy was an American Jew ( from Israeli decent as well ..) he deserved to die ... ..

All right, rhetoric to try and douse rhetoric.

    Interesting reading for those that care. <a href="http://www.vicmord.com/newsletter/newsletterdir.html"; target="_blank">http://www.vicmord.com/newsletter/newsletterdir.html</a>;

However, you have to read it all before you come back and tell me it is full of it (and there is a LOT there). I just heard this guy speak and the cse is made quite clearly that Islam is not based on peace, and Allah is not the same as the christian God. If you don't care, then don't read it.

A valid fear. However I doubt that you could get any farther than:
