However, sources told The Wall Street Journal that Papermaster's departure came because of a "falling out" with Apple CEO Steve Jobs. According to the report, Papermaster "had lost the confidence" of Jobs several months prior to his departure and was seen as incompatible with Apple's corporate culture. The report also noted that Papermaster had joined Apple while Jobs was on sick leave and may have been "ill-prepared" for Jobs' return.
Steve:
"You look like an IBM type..."
"You don't fit in here. Why are you even wasting our time?"
People seem to fault Mr. Papermaster for 'AntennaGate'.
While at the same time dismissing 'AntennaGate' as a "non-issue" and telling people "just don't hold it that way". So is there an antenna issue or not?
Have you really any idea of how many people use a Cisco phone at work around the world?
Don't have the brand name??? Don't have any meaningful impact??? Are you nuts?
Cisco have sold 30,000,000 phones, which while not quite the 50,000,000 that Apple have sold. It is an amazing feat when you consider Cisco only sell phones to medium to large enterprise customers and not end users.
Can you imagine what impact they are going to make with mobile devices in the enterprise?

I have a bad feeling about this.
For what? Seriously, for what?
Maybe he's worried Cisco will come out with a smartphone and/or tablet.

They don't have the consumer tech pedigree, the brand name, or the software/hardware ecosystem to make any meaningful impact in this area.
I think he would also have been responsable for the White iPhone problems.
Also, there seems to be a big problem with the production process. Not enough iPhones and iPads to make possible better sales.
I am not sure if he was still around then. But these things have to take awhile to set up.
Just my 1 cent worth.
He must be talented if Apple hired him, However NOT indepensable!
