I would much prefere dinner with a living person rather than a dead. Too hard to keep up a conversation and they smell bad (that of course depends on how long...)

Still, I think he would fall somewhere between Cindy Lauper and "Lamont" from Sanford & Son on my list...my only fear is that I won't live long enough to eat that many dinners.

well, I would have to have two catagories: one being the catagory where I, inexplicably could speak whatever language my dinner partner could speak and they could be now, living or dead and I could dine with them in their pirme of life, and the other would be real possible dinners.
In thinking of the first, the most important aspect is... who would want to eat good food???
well, Jesus would probably eat Kosher . . and might not want tasty spices(besides he would always talk about himself (joke) . . . same with Buddha . .(though he, according to the Pali Cannon of Buddhism died choking on roasted boar) And that would probably also leave out Socrates . . . and I'd have to watch what I drink around him anyway . . watch out for the hemlock soda.. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />

Leonardo DaVinci --I bet he ate well and could party . . . allthough I'd probably have to watch my hind quarters around him.
Marcel Duchamp: I know he ate well . . and was a cultured well manered bohomme who would entertain with bristling insights.
John Cage before he became macrobiotic --he was a renown cook and loved exotic mushrooms --- he told amazing stories
Friedrick Nietzsche-despite popular misperceptions he was supposed to be a very joyous and pleasant guy . . . but I bet the dinner would probably be a bit sedate in taste . . I do like wienerschnitle though.
James Joyce --my main man!!! ---we'd eat well and drink a few pints O Guinness... then he'd sneek away without paying after asking if he could borrow a few dollars
Helen Of Troy --who cares what we eat baby!!!
the second catagory:
Thomas Pynchon --I'm sure he could keep up his end of the talk . . .I'm sure he also parties with the after dinner drink and maybe a light smoke too .
Robert Rauschenberg He's getting old, but he was my very early main influence and he is a bon vivant who knows how to enjoy life . . .very smart guy too
Paul Ricoeur Passionate philosopher . . who, as a Frenchman, I'm sure knows the difference between Beef Tartar and Wellington
Then of course I would want to talk with Jesus and Buddha . . . after all, knowing from the source whatever they might think about their legacy and knowing for sure would be nice.
