Yup. I listen to it about half the time in driving in my car. I had completely forgotten there was a QuickTime stream! Time to add that to my favorites list...

NPR was like a CBC Radio 'lite', so I listened to it while driving through New England when CBC faded out. It's nice to have stations like that.

i feel the same way. i rarely listen to any other radio stations anymore. get so sick of hearing the same old tired noise from the pop oriented broadcasts that pass for entertainment. damn, i must be getting old. could you turn that down please?

NPR says "here is some news and some music, we hope you find some of it interesting and though provoking."

Pop-Radio says "I'M ENTERTAINING YOU!!! LOOK AT ME!!! BLIP BLIP BLING BLING!! LOOK HOW FUN AND HIP AND ENTERTAINING I AM!!! BLIP BLIP!!!"

I listen to NPR on quicktime all the time too. But it seems like they just loop Talk of the Nation all day. I guess some mornings I get something else, but I'd love to hear All things considered or their science friday programs. I'd actually like to hear some of their music programs too. I'm an NPR geek. I love it.

If you like NPR, you're getting old!

I know, because I like NPR and I'm old. Don't question me, sonny.

I'm 19 and I like NPR. Does that make me old?

Yeah, I'm 20 and most of the time when my radio is on when I'm driving, it's usually on either NPR or a classical station.

I must actually be 70 or something and I just look young.

I'm listening to all things considered, delivered by audible.com. I'm loving my new audible service. iTunes 3 rocks.

I don't listen to NPR as much as I do 89.3, local public radio in washington.

    Jazz.

Real Jazz. DJs that have hung out with Quincy Jones and stuff. Cool Jazz.

    Soca/Dancehall late at night.

    Ambient music on sundays.

Perfect for hangovers, chilling, and... yeah.

it's not NPR, though. I'm still too young for NPR.

You know what you need to try? XM radio. I got the service a few weeks ago and it's been excellent, especially since I have to travel at least an hour and 15 minutes to work and usually 2 hours home.

You get a ton of great channels. Some of them you will never use (for example, I don't listen to Fox News or Religious Rock), but most of them are very good. They even have a channel where people can submit their own songs and get them played (very cool).

NPR is good, but in the age of 'information overload', XM radio is pretty cool. Plenty of news channels, as well as business and technology. You can even get CNET radio if you want to keep up with the latest tech news.

Overall, it makes the drive very enjoyable, and it even comes with a remote control! If you thought coffee distracted some people, imagine what scrolling through over a hundered radio stations with a remote will do.

I hate NPR. One thing I hate very much about NPR here in Michigan is that they carry BBC world service. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't do sports. Like anyone in Michigan gives a flying **** what the cricket scores were that day. How ****ing irrelevant and stupid can you get?

If you happen to follow cricket it carries a great deal of relevance.

And what percentage of people in Michigan do you think follow cricket in England and South Asia? I'll guess somewhere between zero and none. And this is supposed to radio for the "public". And I'm asked to pay for this? Not a ****ing chance in hell.

Don't pay for it then. I would because I rather enjoy anice game of cricket. The old smack of willow on leather on a Sunday afternoon. Very pleasant indeed.

not that many people are into intelligent commentary and classical music either. NPR does not try to appeal to a majority, you should know that.

But if I decide to move there it would be nice to be able to watch the cricket.
