I was wondering if the ten billion downloads are via the U.S. only or worldwide? If these include worldwide downloads then the contest should be open to all app store buyers. Still in all, a staggering number to be sure.
At first, I thought $10,000 was a typo. It seems like a ridiculously large amount of money to spend at the iTunes store.
I guess Apple wants to reach that 10 billionth download extremely fast. It certainly makes me want to buy an app. Too bad my Tiger OS disqualifies me.
The thought of a lifetime's supply of music, movies and software is quite enticing.
Not at all ... you don't even have to make a purchase ... just fill out a contest e-form and hit the submit button ..... and pray. Here's the link: ...
Not sure if i I want to win. From the official rules page:
Quote:
No cash or other substitution is permitted, except as provided herein at the Sponsor?s sole discretion. Prize is nontransferable, unless otherwise specifically approved by Sponsor in writing.
...
Except as specifically included in the prize description, the winner is solely responsible for all applicable taxes, fees and surcharges associated with prize receipt and/or use.
So basically, if you win, you will pay tax on the gift card (likely between 20 and 40% for most folks on this board). And since it cannot be transferred, you won't be able to sell it.
While I would love $10,000 iTunes gift card, it would take me a long time to spend it all. I am not sure if I would spend $3,000 or so in tax for this anyway.
I want to win the money, but not in iTunes Gift Card. I want to choose what I want from Apple Store, like a Macbook Pro, an Air, Mac Pro, Cinema Display, 12-core Mac Pro, or a nice quad-core iMac.
What on earth can someone do with a $10,000 iTunes card? That is an overkill.
If I win, I will sent an appeal letter to Steve Jobs!!!
You could donate it to Appleinsider. And all the members could get something. Where all friends right.....
