Apple made the news a while back for finding that some of their subcontractors were using child labor. Apple discovered this in one of the environmental and employment practices audits that they regularly conduct.

The suppliers publicly stated that Apple was the ONLY company which audited them and forced them to do a better job on environmental and health and safety matters. How is it that Apple is the only global company which even performs an audit, then demands corrections of the problem - yet this 'environmental group' says Apple is the worst?

I guess it's a matter of "HP didn't report any environmental problems and Apple did, so Apple must be worse" -without even considering that Apple is the only one looking.

    That's a very good point.

I have to say the fact that the article says Apple were marked down for not responding to the groups requests for information is a little ridiculous. Apple are known to be not entirely communicative. The fact that they don't talk about it doesn't mean they are not doing anything.

Only 44 employees? They make such a big stink about it. It's not like they don't have millions more.

Rightly so. I would imagine if the organization had attacked a local entity the Chinese government would shut it down immediately reminisce of the Chinese journalist who reported on Foxconn abuses.

    1) These advocacy groups also criticize other Chinese companies.

    2) China is becoming the largest market for Apple soon. All these talks of Apple pulling out of China will not happen, as they cannot make enough iPhones.

    3) The Chinese government does care for their environment. They are they biggest investor in solar power, wind power etc. They invest heavily in mass transit like high speed railway, subways etc, so that their people do not need to rely on cars as much as those Americans.

    4) Think before you talk crap.
