Yes I want I white one. Because I want to be different. The white has never seemed to sell as well as the black. But that could change with this design.
This is what it looks like in a bumper case. A white case on a black phone would not look like this.

Someone must have really screwed up at Apple for this fiasco to last this long. Other manufacturers have white phones out already.
So did Apple with previous generations. I'd guess it's got something to do with the combination of glass on the back and the type of paint they use under it. Total internal reflection might be bouncing the intense light from the LED back into the lens but the black paint will absorb the light instead. With some Magic Paint™ everything will be just fine.
Of course with some magic alloy, it can be easier next time round.
