I don't think Oscar is exactly the gold standard for movies.

But it's hard for me to imagine a much better fellowship than this, as an action-adventure "Braveheart"-type film. [quote]Originally posted by Matsu:

The version shown in the cinemas wasn't the version Peter Jackson was completely happy with. He had to cut many scenes which he thought were great from the film in order to give it a more sensible running time and keep the pace from slipping. The version on the special edition he is happier to be releasing because it includes those scenes he spent all that time making and then had to edit. He said as much in Empire magazine.

I thought you were up to date on film information... obviously not.

P.S it doesn't take me any time to replicate your post. The computer does it automatically.

Unless Peter Jackson is lying, there is NO director's cut.

If he was not lying, then the version released in the cinemas last year was the version he wanted you to see.

If he was not lying, the version that will be released in November will be a special, extended edition. It is not the director's cut.

It is on Disk 2 - I suggest you watch it

BRussell, um, A Beautiful Mind won, and rightfully so. Gladiator was the year before, and while I thought Almost Famous and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon were more deserving, it was still a better single movie than FotR. Im sure LotR would win Best Trilogy if such a category existed...

    BUY THE FRIGGIN' DVD!!!

    the DVD consists of 2 discs...yes 2!

like planet of the apes, before it, LOTR has a double disc dvd feature which contains loads and loads and loads - and this aint no exaggeration - of special features

included in these special features are interviews, behined the scenes, making of and the usual blag (trailers and stuff)

the reeeeeeall interesting point is the deleted / extended scenes which are just gonna be inserted in the film gaining that precious 15mins in the crappy nov release video....

    the moral of the story??

BUY A DVD PLAYER! - it saves one hell of a wait!

Retard, the Extended Edition will consist of "4 Discs ... yes 4!!!" Last time I checked 4 DVDs hold more than 2 DVDs.

And it's 30 mins of additional footage. The original cut was something to the tune of 3hrs 30mins. And the final cut was 2hrs 45mins. So there's like 30-45mins of footage that was cut that they are adding in the special edition. btw, it's called the "Special Extended Edition". If it was the director's cut, then it would be labeled so.

Also, why is the November edition crappy just because of the extra footage. It's not like they are not telling anyone about it like George Lucas with the "Star Wars : Digitally Remastered Trilogy" then the "Star Wars : Special Edition Trilogy". If you are looking for someone to bitch at to milking money it's George Lucas. I'm sure that there will be a "Star Wars Prequel Trilogy" when episodes 1-3 are finished, then a year later there will be "Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition". Then there will be "Star Wars Original Trilogy : Edited to comform with the prequel trilogy". (I've heard rumors about that last one being true, which sucks...means you have to buy the trilogy AGAIN) ... I'm glad I still have the Original Trilogy Digitally Remastered ... I don't like some of the SE scenes. I should move them from VHS to VCD or SVCD, maybe even DVD if I buy a DVDr burner soon.

    BRussel,

I laughed my ass off at that post. I'm not sure why, but it reminded me of Arnold Schwartzenneger doing "To be or not to be?" in the Last Action Hero.

I always thought Colin Mochrie (from Who's Line is it?) would be a fun choice for Tom Bombadil, or even John Lithgow (maybe ten years ago). Just for kicks.

If this is humor ... god help us all. Doesn't seem like a joke to me, seems like you bought the DVD and are pissed after finding out that there is a SE coming out. I learned of the Se way back in the spring it was posted to slashdot.org during the announcement of the regular DVD release date. I check that site once a day and do have a life. I find your post humorous in the fact that you think that you are being funny but you sound stupid. But that's just my opinion.

And the name is 'pyre' I had to use the l33t-sp34k '3' once because 'pyre' was already taken and the 3 just stuck. I got it from Warcraft2 "...the victory pyres burned long into the night..." or something like that is the quote. It was something about victory pyres of the orcs burning on in to the night.

You mean that Neo and Morpheus are watching LOTR:FOTR? The matrix has you leviathan, but if you take the determinant there is no matrix, only scalar.

well seeming as you r replying to my post and insulting the entire message board in doing so lets get some things straight...

    1) pyr3...warcraft....f4gg0t. i thought u said u had a life i mean seriously all the other member who may indulge in that sort of thing dont have the lack of imagination to clone their name from a 'little war game' in the hope they can actually get friends - THEY ALREADY HAVE SOME

    2) no i dont have a copy of LOTR and am therefore not pissed, u see unlike u i didnt camp out - take that reference how u want - over a week waiting for it to be in the shops, i may purchase it but it aint no1 on my to do list

    3) seeming as British time i wrote that message at nearly midnight i have already recieved posts commending my humour, the fact i just ripped u to shreds does not give u any credit in thinking it was stupid....your original first post strated by calling me a retard - u deserve everything i'm gonna throw at ya

in closing i'd just like to say that once you have finished your fetish of sticking peanut butter sandwiches up your a$$ and licking the dog with a coat hanger get outside endulge in something other than the rentboy capacity you seem to include your social life in and try enjoying yourself.......

dont even think of giving me a list of reasons why warcrap is fun or in any way interesting cause that would just waste your time and everyone else on this messge board

side note - what the hell was the reference to the matrix all about, you are probably the lamest person in the world dude, what did u do spend all night disecting my post to make some halfa$$ed joke?
