All the old Nick Shows: Pete & Pete, Hey Dude, Clarissa Explains It All, Salute Your Shorts, You Can't Do That On TV, Welcome Freshmen, and Soooo many others (including alot of the old cartoons that used to be on it)... It's sad to see Nick going down the crapper with today's shows (minus Spongebob )
The WORST example I can think of a show overstaying its welcome is "Happy Days". That show went from totally cool, "American Grafitti-esque" beginnings to a mulleted Scott Baio showcase by the end of its run.
It got BAD! Ron Howard left, Fonzie became a pussy, third-bit cast members got WILD applause upon entering the set (Potsie never did ANYTHING to garner screaming applause from the studio audience...and I'll go to my grave convinced of that).
For crying out loud, Jenny Picolo and that blonde-haired coach guy got applause and screams when they entered a scene!
And, it got really inaccurate too. When it started out, the clothes, haircuts, music, guitars (when Richie and the boys played at Arnold's), cars, etc. were all very appropriate and dead-on for that period (late 50's, early 60's).
During the last few years of the show, Chachi is wearing 80's style jeans, bandanas, long hair (not 60's long hair, but 80's "Tiger Beat" long hair) and Joanie is dressed/made-up like Pat Benatar.
That show just ran off the rails after about the half-way point!
One of the greatest friggin' shows of the last few years. FOX lost the nuts to run it, but there is an underground following trying to bring it back. FYI, an American DVD will be released later this Fall. And there are a few places to get complete VCD collections.
And I agree with others...
The Tick (original cartoon) not so much the expensive, live-action FOX attempt... all though it wasn't that bad.
The Critic - Thank God for Comedy Central running the old shows.
And, um, uh... I really miss "The Greatest American Hero" from my youth. Funny, that I haven't seen it show up anywhere in re-runs.
And sadly enough, sometimes I actually miss Beavis and Butthead. Weird...
from the producers of The X-Files. Pretty good sfx and good plot/character development. Focusing more on the characters and the situations surrounding them rather then focusing on the special effects. Unfortunately, FOX put them on the worst schedule (right after sunday football games), and it got cancelled after one season. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />
Voltron/Transformers/GI-Joe
cartoons of my youth...
Dark Angel
*ahem* well, there is a certain someone on that show...
<strong>The critic was great (but I'm not sure about the squiggly lines).</strong><hr></blockquote>The Critic didn't use Squigglevision. You must be thinking of Doctor Katz: Professional Therapist.
MST3000. *sigh* At least the Sci-Fi Channel shows reruns on the weekends.
I have a strange attraction toward shows that are cancelled too soon...
Everything Chris Carter in addition to The X-Files:
Harsh Realm lasted a huge 3 episodes. Come on, how can you build up an audience in 3 weeks? It was promising...
The Lone Gunmen was quite funny, and I liked seeing them in their own adventures, not stuck in X-Files canvas.
Millennium is perhaps the single best series of all time. So dark and powerful. The second season is absolutely pure genius. But we must feel lucky that such a unique and disturbing show was allowed to last 3 years. The last one started badly, but it picked up with the final episodes. Anyway, I want this on DVD!!!!!
Outside of Chris Carter, of course Twin Peaks! Who can even guess where Lynch would have taken us next? Sure its quick ending adds to the mystery, but hey... Even more so in this case, it is still amazing that this ever made it to prime time TV. I also would have LOVED that ABC really made Mulholland Drive into a series, as it originally supposed to. It left us with a great movie though
On lighter kind of shows, I do agree with Family Guy. Very un-PC, which I loved.

and Undeclared. (ducks to avoid thrown bricks)
<strong>90210</strong><hr></blockquote>
If I were you, I would be satisfied with the 1,003,411 seasons that it ran. I guess no one cared about Dylan when he turned 67.
Saved By The Bell (original, the new classes all sucked @$$)
USA High-That english girl and Lauren were hot!
Johnny Quest
Tale Spin
Duck Tales
Yogi Bear
Smurfs
Daria
Beavis & Butthead
"I'm the baby!"
"Gotta love me!"
<strong>OMG that show was awesome!!! Ahhhh I totally forgot about that.
"I'm the baby!"
"Gotta love me!"</strong><hr></blockquote>
Yeah, that was a great show!
<strong>"I'm the baby!"
"Gotta love me!"</strong><hr></blockquote>
And: "Not the mama!"
[Frying Pan]WHAM! WHAM! WHAM![/Frying Pan]
Tail Spin! I tried to see every episode of that. I would wake up at 5:30 to see it.
Anyone remember Time Trax?
Oh, and Sliders! (Well, the episodes before the professor died were great.)

<strong>Seinfeld (in my opinion the greatest television show in history) had to end. But man... pure frickin' genius.</strong><hr></blockquote>
best to willingly go out on a high note, as opposed to being forced out past its prime...
simpsons should follow suit. i dont know how much longer they can continue to put out quality...

This post is already too long, so I'll stop here
