I think sometimes we forget all that we take for granted. We should take each day and live life to the fullest and make the best of what we are given. I want to link to a photo series that you can click next, next, etc to advance through the series of photos in this situation. Just remember life may have good days and bad days but with the proper perspective we can all enjoy life to the greatest. The next time you feel like complaining about something tiny in terms of the big picture of life consider all the things you take for granted. Peace!

    You are not alone to have this type of thoughts Fship. Humans tend to look ahead, that's our motor : we want always more.

    But for our sake, it's good sometimes to look around ourselves and to realize our chance. If we want to be happy we have to take satisfaction of the present, but if we want to improve we have to look ahead.

    I think the fact that we have to find all of these pathetic "non-isues" to complain about really shows that life for most people on these boards is pretty darned good. We have very little of significance to complain about and thus we look for something...anything to get us down. It's a natural human instinct to find faults in others' and our own actions. This is not to say that life is always peachy, but don't sweat the small stuff people!!!!!!!!

    Up here in Canada, we just celebrated Thanksgiving and it got me thinking about how content I must really be. To be complaining about the how bad the weather is, seems frivolous when people on the other side of the globe have to be worried about surviving the week ahead. Anger and dissapointment are obviously natural human emotions but I think we all too often let them delude our perceptions of the world around us.

    Those of you who have found love in the arms of a significant other, a friend, a pet, etc., should cherish how lucky they are. There is nothing as fulfilling as finding somebody who you share a special bond with. Someone who can make you forget about all the petty problems we all seem to think we're plagued with. Someone who evokes a special feeling in us just by saying "hi" to us or flashing us a smile. It's impossible to verbalize(or in this case, document through typing) the feeling, but when you speak to this person, in your mind you will have a sense of all being right with the world.

    Think it through and reply with your own thoughts/opinions.

    ok, forgive my ignorance, but who is oscar wilde and what can i read by him that is good, because that is like the 3rd quote i heard from him and they were all good i'm interested

    (too lazy to do google, want human input)

    &lt;on topic&gt;

    its good to know that people still feel this way, i'm full of wants, but i have way more then i need, and probably way more then most, being in my room is luxurious almost, nice stereo, nice tv, nice computer, and even an ok computer (pc for programming), i also have clothes that suit my every need. I was thinking about this stuff a couple weeks ago and i figured that one of the most important things to have was friends, friends will always help you, friends will always try to make u feel better, and friends will always be there for u when something in ur life fails.

    &lt;/on topic&gt;

    and to think, everythign just thinks we are computer geeks...

    oscar wilde is best known for his plays, many which have been made into films recently. if you're looking for "funny" i'd go for any of the plays, "the importance of being earnest", "an ideal husband", etc. if you're looking for something darker, "the picture of dorian gray" is a classic (as so deemed by many public school systems ).

    I make medical aid flights to Honduras.

    I know I live like a king compared to those people. The fact that I fly the airplane in with the meds, they treat me as some kind of saint.

    After seeing the squalor and disease, my wife still nags me to get a bigger house in the next county over that is beyond what I can possibly afford, all in the name of "sending our child to a better school".

    I enjoy the simple things in life, like attention from Roxy, my cockatoo.

    Mars: impressive that you fly medical supplies to the people in Honduras. It's more than most of us do for our fellow man, I'm certain of that.

    I imagine that country is still in shambles from the hurricane a couple years ago ... Mitch, wasn't it? That was a monster - would've produced damage worse than Andrew, had it hit Florida dead-on. Is that the original source of the squalor for the most part?

    Actually, 70% of the populace is in poverty. The other 30% ignore them. If you are wealthy enough to own a home, it will have a wall 10 feet high with nails or glass embedded in the top with razor wire strung over it.

    If you don't have a steady job in the city (I go into San Pedro Sula), You have to make due as in assemble some sort of shack or shanty by one of the many putrid sewage filled gutters. Bicycles are a valuable commodity. Clean water is only for the rich.

    Now to the hurricane, Chiquita fruits was totally wiped out, Dole has a complete monopoly over the production of the plantations. 90% of the country is bananas, plantains, coconuts, palm oil palms, date palms and to the west in the mountains it's coffee and vanilla. The wood products industry is destroying the mahogony forests at an alarming rate.

    The plantation workers shoot macaws and toucans on sight. Sadly macaws are almost depleated and there are only 800 toucans left.

    "Dorian Gray" was referenced in "The Seven Year Itch" which I must say was MM's greatest movie. "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" is a very close second.

    MM was a reason to enjoy life.

    Yeah, life can be tough. But even tougher is trying to get an evangelical Christian to go out on a date with you, a non-evangelical type. Always seems to think I'm up to no good. . .

    Curses. I am a man of strong and tested moral fiber!

    last week, when I came from school and was waiting for the train to arrive, I heard a group of girls talking about what the actual exchange rate from euro to swiss francs would be. but, their talking didn't go just 10 sec and done. no, they even let it become a fight ! for 15 minutes !

    unbelievable... <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />
