i dont have anything you can use, how much money do you have to spend because <a href="http://www.micropro.com"; target="_blank">www.micropro.com</a> has really nice systems for cheap, and if that is too expensive, pricewatch could probably build you a cheap PC, you can probably build a PC with the money it would cost to ship a tower to you...specially since most of the members are from he US. Just be thrifty, no case, no monitor (i assume you have one)...i could send you a powercord and stuff like that, i probably have a keyboard, and MAYBE a mouse

You also might want to ask a local school or library if they have any older computers you could buy off of them because of...you can tell them why. Perhaps for just as much you could get one like that, i got a whole bunch of 133s that my school was throwing out for free, and added them to the PC graveyard in my basement.

Put Linux on them and get a renderfarm going.

Might add up to a GHz!

yeah, you read right. I need a PC.

If some of you remember, I use a bicycle to go to work. Now, with the winter standing in the door, it gets more dangerous for me. Ice, Snow, and all the other stuff.

the thing is that I need to design something which prevents me from falling down from my bicycle if I get on ice, for example.

Now, I need to design that on a 3-D System, because I need to calculate several things (Stress/Strain/Strength), and I can only do that there.

I work with a 3-D App (at work), but I can't work at that Project at work. So I have to do it at home. And I need a PC for that. Virtual PC is unsufficient for a 3-D App like Pro/E is.

Does anyone of you have a PC with 400Mhz min. lying around somewhere, and would be willing to give it to me?

I am willing to pay the shippment, but I'm afraid I can't pay more, because I'm still an apprentice. I get $550 per month, and that barely gets me through.

Please ? pm, email, or post in this thread if you have something for me.

Metal studs in the tires will work wonders for traction.

yep, I'm gonna try that too. the only problem is that there are no tires with metal studs for my front wheel (look above for pic). but a friend here at work has experience with metal studs and says that I could easily do them myself.

I'm gonna try that out first.

and for the PC, I probably let the IT guy here at work assemble one for me.

    what I'm gonna do now:

    ? 1. I'll buy a PC to run Pro/E on it.

    ? 2. I'll try the spikes.

? 3. I'll continue to work on a "thing" which should prevent me from falling.

So basically you want sprung training wheels? Certain driving ad riding schools have such get-ups to teach cornering limits and correction. You will find that they do not stop the skid, in the case of a motorcycle, they just stop it from tipping over. I'm having this image of you sliding down-hill, upright but unable to stop, straight into oncoming cars. Ouch... It'll be fun to see your result though.

    UPDATE:

alright, I've just bought my first PC.

    specs are as follows:

? Asus Mainboard with 6 (!) USB 2.0 ports, 2 FireWire, LAN, and other stuff...

    ? AMD Athlon XP 1800+

    ? 512MB DDR-SDRAM PC2700

    ? 80 GB Seagate Barracuda

    ? ATI RADEON 9000 128MB

? plus a CPU switch to hook up the PC to my two monitors.

all in all, inclusive configuration; 1,169.08 USD !

(don't forget; I get a software package for free, which would alone be more than $20'000 !!

    so..I am eagerly awaiting my PC...I can't believe it... <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" /> switch back?

be assured; I still have my Mac and am only using the PC as CAD-Station. (Computer Aided Design)

yeah, It would have been better if I bought a trike. I'm going to make my own trike from parts of the old recumbent (maybe).

But thanks for the suggestion. did you see <a href="http://www.windcheetah.co.uk/"; target="_blank">that</a>?
