Check this out,,, This Car must be running OSX or something

[quote]<strong>Let's take the car's keys, for instance. Or rather, let's not: To enter the vehicle, you approach and allow the slim electronic card that resides in your wallet to emit the correct frequency, which pops the locks and preps things for your getaway. Merely touching the heat-sensitive pad atop the gearshift then sparks the Mercedes to life. <hr></blockquote></strong>

Pretty cool... This car is up there with the iPod with this innovation and style.

Your thoughts on other cool stuff..

That's been a feature on the S Class for a while now. I'm not sure I like it. What happens if I just happen to pass my car whilst walking between stores?

    I want one of <a href="http://www.bentleygt.com/"; target="_blank">these</a>. Sigh.

    Mercedes: sedate.

wireless transmitters add weight and draw alternator current, resulting in the need for a bigger alternator (more weight) and a great hp loss.

    Boooh.

I was wondering the same thing. How do you get away from the car? You get out, lcok the doors, and as you walk away they unlock again. (unless there is some kind of silly timer) Imagine locking your mercedes and then seeing a 'suit' sprint away from it as though it had a bomb in it. It would cause quite a scene just trying to get out or range before the timer went off. Sorta like arming your home security system and locking the door before it stops beeping. LOLOL. How funny! Strange, I can't see many car owners want to run.

There are a ton of those new SL500's driving around over here. They are the best looking car MB makes. The only one that actually looks like it costs a lot. I'd still rather have any Bentley though, but maybe that's because of my thuggish gansta lifestyle

I don't know about you, but when I do something that requires my attention like starting a car, I want the required actions to be deliberate -- the same goes for unlocking doors. This is gimmickry.

I'm not sure why I like it. I think maybe it's because it's a little like cars you see in old 20's and 30's movies. Big roadsters with huge, er, snouts. I'm down with the lingo, me.

Perhaps sir would prefer the more refined <a href="http://www.bentleymotors.com/bentley/picture_gallery/arnaget_3.jpg"; target="_blank">Arnage T</a>?

I like the GT because it's so not like the Arnage and maybe because I'm not all that refined too. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />

Heh. I was chauffeured to a business meeting in a Bentley (I think it was one of the Arnage range?) once, and got a chance to drive it round for a while, and fell in love. I bet the real world economy figures are frightening, though!

Unfortunately, though my employers provide me with a very nice car, they won't stretch the budget to meet one of these.

Ya, I got to drive a 2002 Arnage Red Label around the block once. I felt special

I don't know if the fine looking new SL is running MacOS X, but M-B used to make a vehicle called <a href="http://www.cocheclasico.com/restur_mercedes/restauracion_g_1.jpg"; target="_blank">the G4</a>. (Probably the precusrsor of those recent humungous cross-country luxury 4WD deluxe cruisers, which need an oil well and a harem attached to look credible)

And ?Mercedes? is a fine sounding name (have several relatives named thus).

The Bentley GT is very pleasant too, its throughly modern W12 is sheathed in a carrozerria reminescent of the Real Bentleys? back when Albion actually had a motor industry.

    Recently drove an SL55 AMG.

It's fast as balls, but it doesn't feel right. I just don't like the way Mercedeses drive.

If you want a car that is luxurious, modern and fast, take a look at the new <a href="http://www.maybach-manufaktur.com/us/main1000.html"; target="_blank">Maybach</a>.

My choice would be the "Typ 62":

    - Length: over 20 feet

    - Engine: 550 hp @ 5250 rpm

    - Price: about 400 000 $

    Here are some <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/future/2003/maybach/62/4drsedan/preview.html"; target="_blank">pics</a>.

Still aint doing it for me. I flipped when I saw the mini with the American flag painted on top. That way I can tour the country and flip the bird, in person, to all the anti-American members here at AI Then I head to Europe!

If pushed I'd have to go for the neo muscle cars that the US is pushing out these days.

Which would those be? The Chevy, Ford, Pontiac trio are ridiculous testosterone contraptions with almost no sense of style. The Thunderbird redux is hardly a muscle car, the Viper is sorta, but is actually ridiculous when you think about it. Corvettes are quite bland compared to what they were in the early days (and again, not really muscle cars)

Dodge showed an interesting Charger concept a couple of years ago, and the 300C hemi convertable, but hasn't offered anything. Cadillac? Buick? For geezers. Plymouth? Buried and gone.

I don't exactly see any compelling "Muscle Cars" out there.

I'm just telling you what I like. Plus there's plenty of mod' shops out there that can put a bit more omph into those cars.

These days what I want most is a scooter.
