applying to colleges now? whats with the stanford web page then? i like the photos from the peninsula creamery, makes me hungry and homesick. and,uh its dark, but... is that matt guy in those pics matt person by any chance?

yea, i guess that can be confusing. I applied to Stanford's Summer Session for High School Students and got in so I spent basically the whole summer there taking courses and doing so many other things (yosemite, santa cruz, sf, monterey). 8 weeks. was amazing. best 8 weeks of my life without a doubt.
but now i'm back to reality of not being a stanford student but WANTING to be
yes, that is THE Matt Person... do you know him? He's da man. so cool. i love him... haha... he's like my idol. really good dancer
i am applying to 14 schools as of now. a few"safeties", few borderline, and a a few reaches. it'll be interesting to see what I make. My school hasn't been helpful in telling me my chances because they have believe it or not never had people apply to some of the schools I am. I got my first acceptance letter 2 days ago. Arizona State... that was one of my safeties so its nice to know I have somewhere to fall back on if disaster strikes. Made the architecture major there too. so hot there though.
I was almost an Arch major. Then I decided to do computer architecture.
USC does have a good program. I know a girl in USC arch. I taught her how to use FormZ. Princeton Arch is pretty weak in my opinion -- more like a structural arts program -- though it's a great place to cruise for chicks.

ASU is one of greatest atmospheres in college. i absolutely love it there. we would go to phoenix every year for spring training and stay in tempe. damn, what a cool place to go to school. but my parents wouldnt let me even apply cause it would have been a worthless degree for what i want to do, and it's such a party school. but damn, i love arizona...

oh, and hot arizona is better than freezing boston in my opinion.

do not dismiss this advice...

god, that's me everyday. but yet i still manage to roll out of bed... ugh, that and walking back from the library and its dark and cold and i'm hungry...wah!
I do hope that the deciding factor in regards to which schools to apply to do not revolve around the weather in that area
Boston is a great place to be an undergrad. I may despise this city for reasons too numerous to post here, but I'll never regret being here for my undergraduate career.
Besides, dealing with weather like this puts hair on your chest... if you're a guy. If you're a girl it... um, I don't know. Teaches you to whine more? Like you people really need practice whining more...

[quote]I'd just like to say that I love art school. All you silly people and your academic talk. It's cute. Really

Yeah, I agree with M3D Jack..... I went to art school too......uhhh,huh? Some of these replies are too long for me to even try and read.. Too many letters and wordy things.
I like when people put those smilies to look at.

heh, finally, someone I can relate to You're still working over at CNN though, I used to work in Turner Effects on the Techwood campus... before they built the huge like 7 story studio building. Crazy crazy stuff. Where'd you go to art school?
I graduated from Ringling School of Art & Design in Sarasota, FL with a BFA in Illustration. And yeah.. somehow I ended up as a graphic designer at CNN of all places. Designing for the news isn't all that rewarding, but I'm learning the flame (discreet) and hopefully I can move on to something better like Turner Entertainment.
I used to not know anything about the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena despite living in the same city. Then, I found a cousin went there and now I am finding that the grads from Art Center are all over the place! [The latest one is working at BMW Design.]

Yeah, Turner is where I learned Flame and Flint... and the iNFiNiT! and the CMX, Quantel systems, etceteras. And it looks nice on a resume too, but pay sucked when I was there. I hear since the mergers the work environment has really gone downhill too
Yeahhhh!!! Infinit! Gotta love it. The work environment is different since the merger, but actually... this week my department is merging with headline news graphics (where my girlfriend works) and cnn.com designers. We're going to be in a brand spanking new space on the 6th floor. So hopefully that'll be a lot better. I'm definately wanting a change. The flame is great.. We don't use Quantel. We use Liberty.. I think it's similar.
Edit: Oh yeah, pay does still suck... but you can't beat 27 vacation/personal/sick days.

My recommendation is to differentiate yourself. There are plenty of kids with high GPAs and are newspaper editors, etc.
Why should school X accept you and not others?
