The best way to conserve battery usage in the new 2011 MBP models is by using them only when powered by the grid...

Here are some of the tips for MBP:
    • Turn off Airport

    • Turn off Bluetooth

    • Avoid using the built-in iSight camera

    • Keep discs out of the DVD drive

    • Adjust brightness

    • Invert the screen colors

    • Turn down/off the backlit keyboard

    • Adjust volume level

    • turn off any background application not in use

    • Turn off auto-check for some or all email accounts

I do all of these things everyday.

Anyone know how long a 2 year old MacBook battery should last? Mine has 475 load cycles for 24 months and is operating at 50% of design capacity! I have 1 year Apple cover left will they replace it?

I have an MBP battery that's also 2 years old that's done 204 load cycles, and is at 90% of capacity.

If it doesn't work anymore they will.

As long as you are covered they will replace the battery.First they check it and see what is wrong and than most likely give you a new one.

That is why you pay more money for Apple products because their customer service is very good and worthwhile. I received a new battery also but unfortunately it was the hard drive which was the problem and than it was replaced and it worked fine after that.
