You can't really go wrong picking the best player available, but that's no guarantee. The next guy down the line from Lebron, a 16 year old Yugoslav kid might be a better prospect for some teams. I forgot his name, but at 16, he's already 7'0" tall, so he'll be at least 7'1" (probably 7'2-3" in NBA form. He blocks shots, can rebound, and can actually shoot and dribble (no mean feat for a big guy), and he's sixteen playing the next level up with older kids (where he already dominates) Looks skinny, but steriods and weights can fix that.
And Laimbeer was a good tough (and dirty) guy to have in the center. I dunno though, Rodman did pull down over 1000 boards the second time the Pistons won it. All the more evidence that you must have a front court. Between Mahorn and Laibeer and Rodman there was always someone to help control the glass, and yes, they had the best bench.

Hang on a minute. You're original point was:
[quote]Can anyone build a winner around a back court game? How much is Lebron worth without a Shaq-like center (at least on the defensive side of the court?)

Isiah was the franchise player that the Pistons were built on. Of course they had a front court. But they built their team around a point guard. Lambeer and Rodman were roll players. One person carried this team: Isiah.
Can LeBron carry an NBA team to a championship. Possibly. He can't even vote yet. It'll be an interesting season next year.
1. he doesn't suck... saying he does makes u look like an ass
2. What would you know?
3. They played Oak Hill Academy... #1 ranked high school team... i believe they have lost 4 games in the last three years before tonight and that's with a national high profile/competition schedule... Lebron faced the best at his level and owned them
4. I go to Archbishop Molloy located in Queens, NY... Jack Curran coach of baseball/basketball... has been for 45 years... winningest coach in NY State history... etc.... recruiting is prohibited at all CHSAA schools.... in fact our school has been "suffering" since we went coed because well... the average incoming freshman now has like a 94 avg coming out of grammar school and many of the better basketball players can't make the cut now and the school will not make exceptions
don't talk about shit that you don't know anything about... it makes you look like a bigger ass than you already are

What would I know? Let's think about where this kid is from, and then take a look at my location. I've seen the fool enough to know he's another showboat waiting to happen. The PD is on his d*ck 24/7, even putting a chart in on how to shoot a basketball using Lebroni's form. How many damn people can shoot a basketball better than him? Let's see.....a lot. He has no jumper, and relies on the fact that he's what 6'7 in a land of high school basketball players. A lot of people have scored 20-30 pts in high school games, it's not exactly a god-like feat. I remember a certain kid by the name of Dajuan Wagner scoring 100 pts in a game last year. Can Mr. James do that? It's high school.
Oak Hill is constantly overrated because of politics involved. They're not even close to #1 this year, and for all we know they quit the game so ESPN2 could have a big Lebron showcase. NYC powerhouse? How come I've never heard of it. Ever heard of Lincoln HS? That's a real NYC powerhouse. But what can I say, when you recruit players and go to a catholic school you should be shouldnt you? Rules rules blah blah blah.......theres a way around every system.
He's a 6'7 player getting 20 pts against high school competition. Hardly dominant.

tiger... you're a joke
i haven't seen this kid play other than the espn game.... i don't even need to. the kid is overflowing with talent. it's not because he's 6'7"... and you make that seem so rare at the high school level.... 6'7" is not out of the ordinary for high school players... and height means shit if its not backed up with talent.
whether oak hill academy is truly the number one team or not means nothing... the point is, they are a candidate for the best team in the nation and James dominated against them. and quit with the asshole sugestion that they "quit" the game for espn. while i have at time thought the NBA was "fixed", I know no high school player is going to quit for a tv channel to get lit up by someone trying to steal the spotlight from them.... you're getting so desperate in your stance that its sad
you haven't heard of Molloy? then perhaps you don't know as much as you think you do.... the fact that you claim to have some sort of expansive knowledge of high school basketball and don't recognize not only Molloy but the name Jack Curran is a bit well... hard to believe. ever hear of kenny anderson and kenny smith? yea... molloy graduates... how the hell haven't you heard of molloy... kenny anderson was only the biggest high school player ever
Lincoln? yea... great... far from being THE powerhouse of NYC... but definitely one of the top ones.... Sebastian Telfair scored 31 yesterday and averages in the 20s against a NYC schedule.... does that mean he sucks?... there are many schools... have you heard of Christ the King? St. Raymond's?
do a search for Marlon Smith.... do a search for Molloy basketball or Jack Curran or Sundiata Gaines... then maybe you'll leanr a little rather than trying to sound like a jackass know it all from hicksville, ohio
Of course I've heard of those teams because they are the REAL NYC teams. Sebastian Telfair is much better than Lebron is and is only a junior. I think I know quite a bit about basketball and that doesnt stop short of the high school level.
Oh god, now you want to use insults like hickville, ohio. Hough is hickville Im damn sure of that. Whoops, a little sarcasm there. And just like Marlon Smith......you can look that up too. Lebron couldnt even beat "Hickville, Ohio" last year in the state tourney....hows that for a one man show?
as amusing as this is (and I'm honestly not being sarcastic), let's remember which forum we're in. The rules can only bend so far Now, let's have a nice clean fight here, gentlemen...

Including one of the coolest nicknames in sports history: "The Microwave" Vinnie Johnson
"Cause he heats up instantly!"
I missed the ESPN game with James, but man, projecting wether you can build an NBA champion around him-he must be something!
