If it was done as a project in college, then there's probably evidence that it was done at that point in time. In which case Apples patent wouldn't be valid as this would already have copywrite on it. A parent still has to be an origional idea that nobodys done before, not just not already patented.
Ah, so Apple has to pay me royalties for GarageBand on the iPad because I came up with a touch version of GarageBand in college that looks shockingly similar to iPad's GarageBand, then.
But no, they don't, so I'm exactly where I was before.
Gosh, do I want to be able to talk to my computer. I can already begin to parse out that conversation's commands and the implications of its phrases and how they're tied into actual commands on the system. I just can't write any of this stuff myself.
Let me try.
"EveOS, I'm sorry I had to shut you down for a week and reformat the iPhone, but emailing pictures of me in my Speedos to all my LinkedIn contacts was NOT what I meant when I said I needed to promote myself better."
"That's okay. Let's put it behind us. For Apple. You monster."

Oh, absolutely. My Mac Pro's voice would be a synthesized version of HAL 9000 and my MacBook Pro's would be a synthesized version of GLaDOS.
This needs to happen. I want to be able to talk to my computer and have it form sentences and talk back. Absolutely no higher-level AI needed, just system-level stuff; common phrases joined into sentences and spoken with the TTS from Dragon Dictation that is built into Lion now.

A cooment earlier mentioned how beneficial it would be for the Calenders or Maps
services to help ourselves remember all the many things we have going on in our daily lifes.
Android is going to have a lot of catching up to do once the iPhone supports time travel!
Although, the "estimated" thing is a little worrisome.

This new dynamic location capability - is that what you'd call the "You Better Get Your Butt on the Road Now If You're Going To Make It in Time" app?
You're thinking of the Get To Da Choppa!!! app... Or was it the Get Your Ass To Mars! app.
