By the way guys I already posted his speech over a week ago in the thread about antiwar protests. I guess nobody read that so it's probably good that you repeated it. It bears reading and pretty much sums up what's wrong here. And I think it's sad if the knuckle heads who can't see past the barrel of a gun don't agknowlege or understand it's worth.
Anyway. Looking at it objectively I'm correct. Byrd is complete politics and partisanship. He said nothing of importance because he mined the facts for what he wanted. His picture is incomplete and bias. Lie of omission if you will. But "everyone" here loves it because they are anti-Bush. Too blind to see the Byrd speech for what it is.

Yet people fail to see this. The US is neither protected from, nor independent of, the rest of the world. Without thoughtful diplomacy the US will fail, and will become the target of terrorist attacks and trade disadvantages from all over the world. We are making enemies of our friends, and we are making new friends of no one.

so true and I have been saying this over and over . . .but clod-mouths rule the airwaves these days . . .
sorry, i was commenting on scott's often rant of how biased media and even AI is against the right and white males....

So, what, you have this grab bag full of complaints and you felt the need to reach in and throw one of them out for discussion whether or not it related to the topic at hand?
yes spaceman, how perceptive...you found out about my grab bag...you are the best and most tolerant on the boards...we all love you....g
since you picked one line from everything i said, and nothing from what senator byrd said, thank you for coming to this thread and adding to it...
for some reason i even said "sorry" to you...i won't make that mistake again...if you want to add to a thread, even an extremely conservative or aggressive view point, that is great and welcomed...that is what the forum if for....if not, why post???
horrid liberal signing off....g
and my one line you took was in reference to scott's response of "But "everyone" here loves it because they are anti-Bush. Too blind to see the Byrd speech for what it is." perhaps i didn't word my reply to his comment well, but his claim that AI (and the media in general) is leftist and anti-bush is just not true...there are at least as many conservatives and pro-bush people at AI as there are liberals who don't like bush...same with the media...out

What makes you think I wanted an apology from you? You took the same low road with Scott that Jimmac took and thought it to be so much fun! Anybody who was owed an apology was Scott not me.

Scott is well aware that there are other conservatives on this board. Clearly, when he said "everyone" he was referring all those who had posted to this thread up to that point in time. But it must be such an ordeal for you to endure the presence of so many conservatives here at AI.
Without thoughtful diplomacy the US will fail, and will become the target of terrorist attacks and trade disadvantages from all over the world.

One thing I'd like to point out is that the US has been a target for terrorists attacks for some time now, even when we I guess were more diplomatic. I don't think terrorists care how diplomatic we are, it's really not part of the argument as much as I agree with the rest of your sentiment.

That's a good point spaceman_spiff, why did Scott introduce such a worthless comment that's completely off topic? I mean, is he just trying to derail the thread or something?

Bobby Byrd is a former member of the KKK. That reflects on his probity. It's not off topic.

I'll bet you do. But, by the same token I don't care for quite a few of yours.

One of our "tolerant" liberals decides to vomit all over the boards.

Instead, I see people making false claims and not backing them up.
