Meanwhile, back in reality - history begins to repeat for Apple.

This time thou, they have all the monies they could ever want in the bank - however, have lost all goodwill, trust and loyalty from, well, every industry known to man it would seem.

Hope that fickle consumer market stays strong while the economy tanks.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Fingers crossed that Apple starts playing nice again.

Yeah, but did you know that these same people who apparently hate Apple have downloaded 15billion tunes and 15billion apps?

    Why?

It's the FUD machine. A combination of "investors", mixed with a culture that believes everything they do or own is the "best". Some of us like to read the actually "news" article, and then practice diaphragmatic breathing techniques while reading the comments. As for me personally, I'm fascinated with both google and apple business models. My iPhone supplies me with great access to information whenever I need it, and I do like the quality - I'll use my 3GS until it dies. I'm typing this message on an ancient Dell with XP. Stock in many tech companies... it's called diversity. There are android-powered phones in the family, bought for economic reasons. All are pissing off their users, but hey, they're young adults - they probably haven't thoroughly RTFM.

Looking forward to future support groups, such as Technology Anonymous, etc. In the meantime, everyone go outside and play, will you! Enjoy the ride, be nicer to someone today!

It's clumsy and hard to use and even my daughter (who uses it daily) gets frustrated with it. At the same time, she occasionally uses my iPhone and can do everything without delay.

Aside from using her Android phone quite a bit, I've used others for shorter time periods. The phone quality is, of course, variable, but I haven't seen a thing in Android that indicates that the project was managed by anyone who knows what they're doing.

Did you looks up the backflip before purchasing it? The reviews I've read are pointing at mediocre to just plain terrible of a phone.

If you did, then I'm puzzled as to why your purchased it and not another(unless you were an early adopter which even then could've waited) or you were not being a consumer and researching your products adequately.

And if you disagree, show me an Andy Rubin tweet bragging about the actual profits they make from Android.

Shame on you ! You should realize that that would entail looking at the complete/big picture .... and if we all did that .... we'd have "nothing to say"!

There is intense competition between PC desktop makers, do you see a lot of innovation?

There is intense competition between airlines and the only innovation is in finding ways to conceal the true price of the ticket.

There is intense competition between makers of jeans, do you see a lot of innovation? Heck I can't even find any that fit.

Competition is frequently a sign of commoditization, which occurs after meaningful innovation has ceased. Innovation itself is driven by larger changes in the technological world, by serendipity or by a few people with unusual levels of creativity, determination or contrariness

For every case you can find where innovation followed competition, you can find another where it didn't, or where competition exists without innovation.

Apple sells more than one model iPhone, or are you not explaining yourself clearly enough?

No, she had a Motorola Backflip phone, that runs Android, a major difference from what you claimed. You can't get an "android phone"
