Google co-founder and CEO Larry Page condoned ads from rogue online Canadian pharmacies, says a Justice Department official who led the investigation into the case and talked to The Wall Street Journal about it.

There's nothing malicious about buying discounted pharmaceuticals from Canada.

My wife saves over $150 per month by doing so, and I know several others who have chosen to deal with Canadian pharmacies rather than pay the inflated prices that the drug-makers demand from US consumers. The only reason it's not legal to import from there is the successful pressure from the manufacturers on the US Government to require prescriptions for US based patients to originate here, protecting the drug-makers from competitive pressure. It's the same drug, usually in the exact same package, by at prices 30%-50% or more under the same prescription filled at someone like Walgreens.

Yes, Google more than likely knew that they should not assist in ad placement for Canadian pharmacies, if not in the beginning at least shortly thereafter. Yet they continued to look the other way. Money, business and ethics aren't always in perfect balance. That doesn't make it malicious.
