I laugh at people who really care which phone is #1 in sales, money, users, etc., and go on rants about it. Who the F cares, it's a friggin' phone. Buy what you want and others will buy what they want. Unless you actually work for that company or own a bunch of stock, why do you care? I prefer iPhone, but really could care less what others buy and don't care which is #1 or #2 on any analyst list or pie-chart. Get a life.
If Android having the strongest army makes you feel better in some way, bully for you.
I don't belong to the Android army... I'm patiently waiting to get my first iPhone whenever the new one comes out.
All I was saying in my original comment is that having the iPhone on 3 carriers won't do much. The iPhone is already on 5 carriers in other countries.
True.... but some folks believe it's the number of devices sold that determines the strength of the platform.
Android fans love to spout the "550,000 activations per day" number. But other than the sheer number of Android devices sold... I don't see much going for Android.
You do get choice in the type of hardware... but you're right... overall iPhone customers are happy.
If you're looking for platform strength (and not comparing phone to phone), then iOS is still doing better than Android with iPad and iPod Touch considered.
Having said that, I'll take quality over quantity any day.
I hope the iPhone 5 can get all of 29 sprint customers! Evo coneeevo is dead as a doorknob!
I was on Sprint for over 10 years before switching to AT&T for my 3GS. I had no major problems with Sprint, their coverage wasn't perfect, but was better than AT&T is now where I live. Whenever Apple releases a 4G iPhone I'll definitely compare Sprint to Verizon and drop AT&T.
Uhhh... he did say "imagine." He's not allowed to day dream about it and use his imagination? If you have kids I feel sorry for them, "Hey, stop acting like you're wizard 'cuz you're not, you're a little kid!" Geeshhh.

Oh, and your tone was very rude. Get a life?
Happy holiday!
Most people know it has little to do with amount of carriers, most know it's unlikey Apple will ever beat Android in user numbers/devices sold (given away). Only because there are only two versions of iPhone at this exact moment in time (3GS & 4), while there are many versions of Android phones made and many different price points and many even given away in buy-1 get-1 sales. So, to use carrier numbers as some measurement is only partially correct and misleading. Go to http://www.google.com/phone/ and compare that to one lone 3GS and one lone ip4 on two carriers, if Apple gets on 15 carriers in every country (if that many even existed) with only two phones it won't matter when compared to number of Android phones, unless Apple makes 6-10 different price points and types of iPhone. And even then it won't be enough to beat Android in sales/users... but Apple wins in profit per phone sold (I think).
Oh, and I'm from the north East Coast where most are not so passive aggressive as Cali people where I live now, sorry my Eastern ways came off as rude, I'll be gentle, okay?

No worries man.
Holy crap that list of Android phones is long. I kinda forgot how many there were!
I thought we were operating from the realm of current reality. I didn't know there needed to be room for rainbows and unicorns.

I don't who is cheating here. Apple or Sprint. Installing repeaters and signal boosters in and around Apple stores? Someone new with Sprint will be disappointed when they take the phone home and found the reception is suck. Just check coverage with your zip code...
My guess is that Apple has cleverly finagled Sprint into making the cellular network upgrades.
"We're gonna offer the iPhone on your network next month. You have a great network, but just to let you know, we've set aside some space in our networking closet in each store just in case you want to install any gear. Just let us know if you want to use this space."
(Cue sound of Sprint tripping over its own heels trying to stand up.)
Let's face it. Sprint is the lonely chick who finally got invited to the prom. Sprint will do everything in its power to lessen the chances of them screwing up this opportunity.
Apple isn't spending a thin dime in upgrading any network resources in its stores. This is all up to Sprint. Sprint got invited to the big dance and Sprint's going to foot the bill for the pretty dress.

Actually it is very common. They do it because they don't want anyone walking out of the store without a working phone and if the signal is weak cause of the building having too much metal or whatever, they can have connection issues.
Supposedly they also put in T-Mobile repeaters last month. And allegedly there are T-MobileUS prototypes coming up in developer data
Frankly I could see it. I would rather see it in one phone but I suspect that it's not really possible to do all 4 in one unit. THat said, if anyone could make it happen Apple could and would. Perhaps not until the iPhone 6.

these are hardly towers. THey are more microcells used to boost the signal inside the store. Probably couldn't handle more than maybe 10 connections at a time.
Wouldn't they want repeaters to also activate phones on the cloud, rather than going over to the sprint store or using a (God forbid) landline for activation (soooo 2007).

Not sure if you know this but cell technology is landline based too. Those cell towers connect back to the carriers using wires. Kinda like wifi using access points that connect back to a switch with Ethernet.

Bingo! Much easier to sell the phone if it can be activated over Sprint's network on-the-spot.
That is a silly statement. If AT&T achieves regulatory approval, T-Mobile will cease to exist so nothing would change. The only chance T-Mobile customers have to get the iPhone officially is if AT&T doesn't get regulatory approval. Otherwise, they will no longer be T-Mobile customers.
I suspect T-Mobile is not going to get the iPhone now for one of two reasons or both reasons: Namely, 1) Apple wants to limit the amount of carriers the phone is being rolled out to for fear of being able to met demand, or 2) T-Mobile and AT&T have colluded to keep the iPhone off T-Mobile. It would look bad if all the sudden T-Mobile was looking competitive again.
Either reason for me stinks because I have used Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint. I hate them all.

It isn't cheating to install repeaters. Reception in a mall often times isn't great for some reason. Maybe it is all the concrete and steel walls. I hate to tell you, but Verizon and AT&T also have them installed in the malls. T-Mobile too.

I don't think the "rumors" are correct......no iPhone through Sprint! Well see though!
However; Sprint will not offer the iPhone!

I hope for your country's sake you have nothing to do with diplomacy, foreign relations or indeed customer relations.
It's so offensive to insult somebody else's country.
Whatever that poster had done rightly or wrongly, would you be happy if he insulted your place of birth or residence?
