YET, now Apple is including (ie COPYING) this in iOS 5 claiming it to be WIZ-BANG wonderful.

Maybe « years » ago wifi were much slower and iOS won’t sync with a computer it will sync straight to the cloud. BTW did Zune did it or not?

Except that Samsung is trying to pass its GT off in their ads as the same as an iPad... but better. No mention of Android.

Samsung does everything except put Apple's logo on their products.

Android does not have to be mentioned. The type of apps or the name of the app store does not have to be mentioned... "Wow... I just got a tablet that is better than the iPad! Shit! Why won't Apple let me log into their app store?!"

    Exactly.

Really no big deal. We just disagree on whether anyone has ever mistaken the purchase of a Galaxy Tab as the purchase of an Apple iPad.

Samsung cited four patents in today's new lawsuits. ISTM that they claim that those inventions never existed before.

Do you even realize how many people don't know that there are two major computer operating systems? How many people think that all you do is buy a box and then put either Windows or Mac in it? How many that think that Mac is part of the Windows operating system? How many people think that Windows is part of the Mac operating system? How many people don't even know what an operating system is?

People rely on ads and salespeople. Oh... and they are all honest... especially when the products that they sell are made by honest manufacturers.

The old saying... if it sounds like a duck... etc. ... btw... that was Samsung's business model for the GT.

There is certainly anecdotal evidence to support that point of view.

Can you cite any of the anecdotal evidence? I've heard the allegation by forum posters, but you are the first to cite evidence.

Not even Apple has made that claim.

Want me to go downtown with a video camera, hold up a Samsung tablet, and ask people what they think it is?

Now, it IS possible that Samsung doesn't make enough on Apple's products to justify keeping them as a customer. And it's even remotely possible that Samsung could make up for that business elsewhere (although not very likely). But even if that were true, Samsung would simply raise their price to Apple next time around or tell Apple that they're not going to bid on the next round of chips. It makes no sense to alienate someone who's buying $8 B worth of product from you.

It makes perfect sense if that somebody pays you not enough to be worth your while. And you have no facts other than "Apple places big orders, and in general, big orders are good".

I'm saying that nobody here is in any position to make firm conclusions on this topic.

A business may not take an order because the margin may not be high enough... but to say that they piss all over the buyer to negate the deal rather than just turn it down... well... what can I say other than that's the strangest business plan that I've ever encountered.

If we didn't want an order sometimes we'd just bid high... oddly enough. sometimes we still got the business.

I allege that the moon is made of green cheese. Seemingly, you claim that there is now evidence that the moon is made of green cheese.

    I disagree.

    I disagree.

Please... look up the meaning of anecdotal evidence and then get back to me.

Here... I'll help you out a little.

I went to the moon and I saw that parts of it were made of green cheese. Seemingly, you claim that there is now anecdotal evidence that the moon is made of green cheese.

Change the idiots. Make something semi-different...

Nobody here has any evidence, anecdotal or not, that consumers are mistaking the Galaxy tab for iPads. They merely allege that it may be happening. Allegations are not evidence.

Sorry. When I saw somebody claim to have evidence, I believed him. I thought he'd cite an article about, say, Best Buy getting excessive returns, and reporting that many (Some? One?) customers claimed that they were fooled. But no.

Nothing. No evidence whatsoever. Not anecdotal, not scientific, not polls, not focus groups. Nothing except "I imagine that it might be happening".

    Got it. Sorry. My mistake.

[on edit: I did have a young sales gal try to sell me the original GT saying that it was the same thing as the iPad (1) but that it could play flash... so that does play into what we are trying to say... but that was almost a year ago and a different product than the one I am discussing]

I'd boycott Samsung only because Sam sings terribly.

Groan, I know, I suck at these.

I agree in principle, but Apple puts a lot of Samsung parts into my iPad, so does that count as a "Samsung product"? Or just their branded products?
