First thing that came to mind. Would have been a nightmare getting the rights to use the name though, while "Macworld" is of course theirs by sheer force of history and heritage... and ongoing licensing payments(?)
Ever since Apple pulled out of Macworld, Macworld has been a total non-event.
Not really. I was at the first MW without Apple and there were a lot of people there. Clearly it didn't have the same buzz because Apple wasn't there with announcements but a lot of networking went on and it was worthwhile for many involved
Looks vaguely familiar. It's like a white iPhone 4/4S, with, strange-feeling proportions.
Oei, that's a familiar design! Indeed, strange-feeling proportions. Personally I don't like these large screens. The iPhone suits me just fine and if they would make it bigger it wouldn't fit into my jeans anymore.
"We like being able to organise our apps, but we're sure there's an easier way. If only we could just, we don't know, drag them onto one another and have the folders auto-create? What do you mean we can't? What's a patent?"
and:
"The interface on the Samsung Galaxy S2 might seem a little complex to an iPhone user, as it's chock-full of contextual menus, pinches, zooms, scrolls and dragging."
and:
"...in the call log list, the default option is to have everything listed at once ? including incoming and outgoing messages. If you want to just see calls you've made, like nearly everyone in the world, you can't."
and:
"The WVGA screen looks pin sharp when zoomed out on a whole web page, and you can double tap to speedily get to a legible level of text, no matter where you are on the page. One gripe we do have is the text reflow, as it doesn't do it automatically ? you have to double tap the screen slowly to activate it when pinching to zoom in."
Will the 360 hour standby time entice people to buy this?
their message would get diluted by all the other press announcements being made A.) by other companies at Macworld Expo, B.) by those attending CES in Las Vegas
Apple's Macworld announcements were *never* diluted by other companies. As for CES, the talk was always "What will Apple announce?" so...not there either.

"Plus, Apple has full control over the messaging, venue, security, invitee list, etc. at its own events, particularly when they are held on the Apple campus in Cupertino."
Actually, Apple had that same control over their keynotes at Macworld Expo, too.
iWorld will be massively successful as, surprisingly so, there's nothing else like it.
An iOS only convention?
Brillianti!
People & devs will jump all over this.
You're in luck - it's already been going on for several years. It's called "The iLounge Pavilion at CES" and it has three times the vendors, floor space and attendance of a Macworld/iWorld.
Comments
I remember reading Macworld in the 1987-1993 timeframe. It was a nice magazine back then, in another time.
An iOS only convention?
Brillianti!
This is Apple's & the MacWorld convention's future -- nothing against Macintosh, of course.
People & devs will jump all over this.
Early.
Surpisingly so, no one else is doing this and it's backed by a big name -- MacWorld. *
Couple that with it's all everyone wants to talk about anway & you've got a recipe for success!
It's "WWDC For The Rest Of Us."
It's E3 [apps] and CES [peripherals] all rolled into one, but just for iOS.
Again, how no one's ever thought of this ....
WWDC isn't really a showcase as such, and isn't meant for the public.
CES & E3*are much, much too biig to get the kind of focus & attention an iMaker'd want. *
I'll actually try to get to this one.
Samsung in the same game,
Better rename,
to Samesame,
Since the copying is still the same.
Samsung actually has a website with 'world' in it...but only in The Netherlands.
samsungworld.nl
Should've just called it AppleWorld

While reading a review from www.techradar.com some funny tidbits:
