We bought a Mac Mini (our first Mac) and an ATV in August. Download torrents, drop them in handbrake, drop in iTunes. Just one extra step and the playback options are much nicer than the way we used to stick the avis on a USB key. My dvd player would only let you pause for 2 or 3 minutes and then if you didn't play/pause it again, it would go back to the menu and you couldn't ffwd or rewind, you had to start things over from the beginning again. MUCH happier w/my ATV and a quick file conversion is nothing to ask for.

I could see them releasing a new ATV, but honestly if they don't do it before Thanksgiving, it won't be getting done this year. I believe that jailbroken ATVs are already capable of 1080p, so the A4 isn't holding anything back. How much of the content from iTunes is in 1080p? If it's mostly in 720p, they don't have much incentive for that change. Their bulk orders for teh A4 are still huge, given the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch, so unless pricing is much better for the A5 by adding in the orders for a new ATV, purchasing price wouldn't be the reason for an upgrade either.
