iPhones and increasingly iPads are making HUGE inroads into many Enterprises despite Apple's lack of good tools for Corporate IT. iTunes was designed for individuals not IT folks.

As for Macintosh, are folks aware of the Dell KACE can manage, deploy, and secure MacOS X? The K1000 (Management) and K2000 (Deployment) provide much of what Corporate IT departments need to cost-effectively deploy, manage, and secure Macintoshes.

Of course KACE can also manage Windows and Linux, but it is not tied to any of these platforms. KACE doesn't (yet) fully support iOS, Android, or W7M devices. For this, you'll need to look at something like Zenprise (http://www.zenprise.com).

My point is that Apple products CAN be managed if corporate IT departments are will to invest the time and money.

BTW, Apple was 100% correct in killing off their XServe. Servers typically sit in racks and are only seen by IT technicians. Having shiny aluminum faceplates and great aesthetics only adds to the cost and provides no value whatsoever to IT or end users. What they *could* do is better educate IT departments on how to cost-effectively deploy, manage, and secure their products within the Enterprise...
