So did everyone just completely forget that just a month ago, stories of Samsung then HTC beating out Apple in Q3 was plastered on every blog and tech news site? And now all of a Sudden, Apple is still on top?
I'd rather see carriers release the number of activations for each phone rather than some random survey.

Apple has always been on top even if they aren't for a quarter.
I am surprised with this economy. How long can one stay on top? Eventually there comes a point where there is market saturation. 300 plus million people in the us. once Apple makes 300 + million iPhones, then where to go from there? \
Hi, I'm new to your site and a college student. Recently I did a research paper on the iPhone and found out that Vietnam and China are prime countries for Apple to expand. The iPhone already is a status symbol in these countries, with people buying them for upwards of $2,500 US dollars and they don't even have cellular carriers. Apple COO Tim Cook said that people in China are willing to pay up to one fourth of there yearly income to own an iPhone. He has also said that Apple has been in talks to expand their Asia-Pacific business dealings since last year. If you think the United States is close to saturation in the market place of smartphones; China alone with its 1.5 billion people is a new market place that everyone in the smartphone industry would like to have a piece of.

Why would you buy a phone with no cellular carrier? That's like buying a car with no gas. They don't sell iPod touches?

A month ago we didn't have the iPhone 4S.
