Remember its ment to be a 'sub' notebook
I have to say it but I think the 12" iBook looks better than the 14". To much space round the keyboard!

Not that I disagree about the 12" being better, but I don't think that the ibook is supposed to be a sub-note. It is, but that was never it's intention.
...Apple shifts the line entirely to 14", and the price of 12" models skyrockets on eBay.
12" Combo $1500-->$1800
If Apple drops the 12" models, or makes them distinctly second rate (i.e. 66MHz bus, wimpier graphics, CD only, etc.), they'll get trashed by the industry and consumers. And they'll deserve it.

You think that Apple are that stupid to hit a home run and go ahead and trash it?? Apple have more of a hard time trying to hit the ball, I agree, and I'm sure others do too, but once the ball is hit, and hit hard, Apple knows what to do from there....I think!
If anything, the iBook has been their best perceived product since the iceBook was intro'd. Apple aren't stupid....somewhat blinded by RDF...but not stupid.
12.1" G4 iBook
...that's all i want, that's all i've wanted
I don't necessarily believe the 12-inch model will go bye-bye...just speed bumped.

Apple would be very stupid to get rid of the 12" iBook. Most people prefer it to the 14".

In their current state (same resolution, bigger screen) I would take the 12" over the 14" anyday of the week and I'd even pay more for it. If they were to up the res on the 14" then it would make sense. But, please Apple, don't be foolish and drop the 12". It's one of the best portables out there. Nothing on the PC side even comes close, IMNHO.
The only way I see them getting rid of the 12" is if they can fit a 13" screen in the same form factor. Is that possible even? I don't know

not without severly decreasing its durability.

Same here. There's no way I'd ever give up my 12" iBook for a 14".
if they do bring out a sub-notebook, hopefully it'd be a little thinner than an inch.
i also would hope it would look a little different than the powerbook. the pb looks good, but there needs to be a little differentiation. i'm sure if apple makes one, they won't disappoint
i have my ibook 600 dvd..and am damn happy that i bought it. i chose an ibook because my old bronze powerbook g3 500 was big for me. if anything, apple should stick with the current size and make it thinner. think of a mini tibook: g4, higher resolutions on external monitors and a beefed up graphics system. leave the large-screen super-powerful laptops for those who need it--mostly professional road warriors. and leave us college students with our mini books that easily shove in our back packs
OTH, if the 12" iBook disappears (I hope not) it could point to a wide-screen 12-13" mini-TiBook sub note. Titanium, combo drive built in, G4, 1" thick, about 4 - 4.25 pounds, Li-poly battery. Expensive.

Interesting possibility, Matsu. Certainly, Apple wouldn't arbitrarily kill the 12.1" iBook.
NO! BAD apple, BAD steve!

Add a decent GPU and I'll buy that thing immediately.
