OTH, if the 12" iBook disappears (I hope not) it could point to a wide-screen 12-13" mini-TiBook sub note. Titanium, combo drive built in, G4, 1" thick, about 4 - 4.25 pounds, Li-poly battery. Expensive.

Why not equip it with skis? I find the 12.1" screen a shade small on my Japanese iBook, and still use my G3 Pismo with VST stuff like Zip 250MB, SuperDisk (still available in Japan), and the DVD drive it came with for everything else. That slot was GREAT! and remains so.
Apple has obviously committed to the 14" iBook (it costs $ to create a new form factor).
I can't see them not pushing this model further with a G4 chip eventually.
While the screen resolution is not a sharp as the 12" one, it's not horrible as some make it out to be. I don't recall, but I wonder how does it compare to the old Pismos 14" screen?
Actually, I'd like to see a special edition G4 models in both 12 and 14 inch.
I wonder if Apple is going to totally discontiue it or come out with newer 12" models. In my opinion, I think it would be a mistake to discontinue the 12" model. Its smaller size and better screen resolution are what makes it a nice machine.

I think that this is a mistake. whenever Apple even slightly changes a model, all of that line are assigned new part #'s. what this article is reffering to is the EOL designation that applied after Macworld. The new models, with the new model #'s have been shipping ever since. (new 12.1" and new 14") In other words, this is not proof of an EOL in iBooks.

if you read the article is says they have been EOL since January 7. Do you really believe Apple has had its 2nd most popular product EOL for 2.5 months?
It could also be as a reflection of the price change that occured at MWSF

I was wondering about that myself since I read somewhere that Apple tries to maintain a 2 week inventory.

Well, someone else on that thread at MacNN, as well as this article over at the-ibook, are saying the 12" iBooks are all EOL.
Weird.
According to this link, the 12" iBook may be EOL.

The 12" and 14" have the same resolution.

I meant to say the pixel size is smaller on the iBook which gives you a sharper image than the larger iBook.
