I have tried setting the burn speed to max and 12x but it still burns at 4x. If you visit the apple discussion forums, many, many people are having the problem of itunes burning much slower than the drive is rated for. Reply 6 of 7 poopoodoctor Posts: 143member June 19, 2002 8:51PM Not sure if this is the reason, and I will say that I'm no tech guy, but... A few years back I purchased a 8x4x12 CD burner. At the time my Mac was a Performa 6360. The CD burner would only burn at 2x and to get it to work I had to increase the buffer size to 10megs, I think. A few months later I purchased a G4 350 PowerMac. I plug in the CD burner to the G4 and wallah, with the G4 the CD burner was cooking the CD at 8x. My take on this... CPU power is the reason you can't burn faster.
