I really think it needs a DVD drive in it to play movies. otherwise it will suck big time!

Looks like a solid update. A high density display and better optics will address the two main shortfalls of the current model. Presumably Siri is also on board. These will be enough to convince many to upgrade.

Yeah! The fashionable thing today is to be the first to ridicule someone who says "first!"

    (You were second.)

What do you mean by "better optics"?

    The glass? The backlighting?

I think it will be slightly lighter but same thickness? We'll see.

There is some new information that the magnet design for the Smart Cover will be the same as the iPad 2. I hope that isn't the case.

Why? Do you want something thinner? Curious.

The Smart Cover can be the same, the display can be Retina/Retina-esque.

Yeah, maybe under Steve he would have also thrown out the old Smart Covers and have Smart Covers 2, which could still happen while having "backward compatibility" to Smart Covers 1.

I want more magnets. This would make the G1 and G2 Smart Covers work with either the G2 or G3 iPad, but would give the G2 Smart Cover and the G3 iPad more features.

By more magnets I mean more magnets. You know how you can simply open and close the Smart Cover to get the videos to stop/start playing and the display to turn off/on? Well I want that to be expanded. I want to simply flip the first flap up to see the time, data, weather, stocks, and any calendar or other notifications that have come up. No need to open up the entire cover just to check for a split second.
