I don't see any irony. Think different is of course an old Apple marketing slogan. Apple doesn't approve of jailbreakers and neither do I. Just because I have a signature that says "Think Different", that doesn't mean that I am automatically obliged to approve of every retarded idea that exists in the universe.

I don't drink too often. If I'm first going to drink, then I will most certainly be getting drunk, otherwise I don't really see the point. Getting a girl drunk is also a good way to get them in to the sack, so alcohol does have it's uses sometimes.

I also don't use any hard drugs, I only stick to the extremely safe stuff, such as marijuana, which is a wonderful thing and hopefully any kids that I might ever have in the future will choose that instead of alcohol, which is a real killer.

There might be some performance issues on the older phones, but I think the big factor is that a lot of the Siri processing happens on Apple's servers, so it would consume Apple resources if every iPhone had immediate access to Siri.

Allow me to speak for those of us who still believe in private property rights for a moment when I say "You couldn't be more wrong!"

I paid for my iPhone 4, its damn near out of contract at this point and it is MY PROPERTY. If someone or a group of people want to hack it to do something cool, that is our right! now, that said, Apple absolutely has the right to disable it too, as the ios updates are their property, but hey, I have the right to not run the update if I know or suspect that it will interact negatively with my unsupported use.

Why do Apple fans get so mad when people hack with apple goodies? When Windows Vista came out, there was a lot of hardware that idint run the transparency in the window borders (called aero glass. ) There was a hack discovered to enable it on unsupported hardware, MS didnt really care because no serious users who rely on Windows for critical situations would do such a silly hack, but it kept the tinkerers happy...

One more question, speaking as a college educated man who doesnt make a whole lot of money, I cant afford to get a new Apple product whenever it is announced, so what is wrong with me tinkering with my old one to get more life out of it? if I break it, its my problem and I can deal with it. How exactly am I a theif? because I dont have my amex on autofire aimed at Apple.com? Sorry I cant live up to your expectations of what an Apple product user should be economically.

That said, if you want to buy me a 4s, I am open to that idea.

Jailbreakers are the scum of the earth.

Wow. Scum of the earth, huh? I have spent 22 years of my life, in numerous combat operations, so that you have the right to call people that. By the way, I am part of that scum, apparently.

And for Apple ][, you have your opinion about jailbreakers as well, just like I have just formed one about you. I'd rather be labeled a jailbreaker than a drug addict. Regardless of what anybody claims or says, I still believe that the majority of drug users are losers, a blight on society, criminals and belong in jail. How does that sound? By the way, I don't really believe that, but I wanted to show how making blanket statements just makes you look stupid.

There are only two minor things that the 4S has that the 4 does not when it comes to using Siri. One is noise reduction and the other is "raise to speak" sensor. By the way, Siri works perfectly on an iPhone 4. Apple could very easily have put it on the 4 as well, but since the 4S looked identical to the 4, how many people would have gone for the 4S, without something special in it? The general populous probably couldn't tell ou the difference between an A4 chip and an A5, so Siri was the main thing Apple had to market for sales and commercials.

I haven't heard many things in my life that are worse than the things Apple ][ and I am a Zither Zather Zuzz have said on these boards.

As for jailbreaking, the 2nd most expensive app for my iPhone was bought via the Jailbreak app store. It could $20 and was worth every penny. The most expensive app was on Apple's App Store That was TomTom for $50; worth every penny.

iOS 5.0 has removed any reason I'd have to jailbreak at this time.

I believe that jailbreaking is technically legal, so I'm not saying that you're not allowed to do whatever you want with a device which you bought, though Apple has stated that it might violate your warranty.

My main beef is with people who jailbreak in order to steal apps. It is mainly those people who I take issue with.

Then I think that you need to get out a bit more.

Seriously, you haven't heard many things in your life that are worse than the things that I say?

From everything I've seen and heard, even when jailbreakers buy some programs, they also pirate others.

For example, most of them download a stolen copy and justify it by saying that it is "for evaluation" or some such nonsense. They claim that they pay for some of these programs.

Are you saying you've never done anything like that?

Those are they guys that I was talking about. They hurt the entire community.

Jailbreakers are a good part of the Apple community. Let 'em go. They do security checking, and their hacks can then be buttoned up later.

I'd say that people put all kinds of nasty motives on Apple for this kind of thing, but there is firmware in the 4S that actually makes the speech recognition work so well. And the speed. So for Apple, which never wants to cripple some feature with insufficient hardware.

The personality of Siri, though it's not at the core of the technology, is almost as important. She is a credible, funny, sarcastic personal assistant.

I can afford to buy all of my apps. I have so many apps, that they all don't even fit on my current iPad.

Jailbreakers have the mentality of a Fandroid, and that's what they should be using, an Android device.

I jailbreak my phone solely to enable tethering, which my carrier has disabled and have no way to enable otherwise. I'll stick to my iPhone, but thanks for the advice.

I know tons of ppl who jail break and I dont know one who steals bootleg apps, it was mostly to run apps that for whatever reason Apple didnt allow, like unix shells, and in earlier times, things like remote terminal apps, and remote desktop apps and such, but hey when all that stuff was made available in the app store, most of us stopped. The ones who continued, wanted home screen flexibility not offered by the stock apple stuff, so yeah the bootleggers are a small minority -- very small.

I have no problem w/Siri, she's usually very helpful. It would be nice if she could pronounce my damn name right when I correct her. My name is Hagen (long A). She calls me Hagan (short A, sounding like Haggen Daz ice cream). I say "No Siri, call me Hagen" and she says "Ok. I'll call you Hagan." So annoying.

Otherwise I've had my 4S a week tomorrow and I'm completely happy

EDIT: BTW just tested. Siri will happily call me "Stupid Piece of Shit" but can't pronounce my name. *shakes head*

I hope for everybody else's sake that you never in your life procreate. Drinking for the sole purpose of getting drunk, getting girls drunk so you can defile them, and turning your future kids onto illegal substances. You would make a great father.

What a wonderful way to thank customers for buying your wares... Completely dictate what they can do with it post-purchase. \

I think Apple IIs post history gives clear indication he's somewhat of a shitty human being. Also, I call BS on 'getting girls in the sack' part. Everything from his posts indicate he's most likely an angry virgin who hates life, and most people.

What a wonderful thing to think: that you're entitled to steal server time.
