Google glasses are a non-topic anyway.

They'll be designed by engineers, for engineers, but never worn by engineers...or anybody else for that matter.

Can you imagine the crap you're going to get in public, or whenever you wear them indoors?

They sound like the next Google Wave.

There is something appealing about heads-up and augmented reality displays adding to your life. So far we've seen only sci-fi examples that seem cool though impractical but it wasn't too long ago when the tech we have today in our pockets was still science fiction outside of Apple's labs.

RiM didn't think what Apple produces could so well and Palm was sure Apple couldn't walk in and figure it out. Maybe the right innovations for wearable computers aren't as far off as we think.

You need to be careful, you'll get carpal tunnel just from disputing his FUD. You do know he gets a kick out of getting a rise out of you, don't you?

If that's his goal he's failed. He gets me to respond because I dislike liars and like accuracy but a rise, simply not going to happen. I am the only one who exists, after all.

When you quote a frequent troll, everyone who has that troll on their ignore list is forced to read the rubbish. Please don't quote the trolls for the sake of others in the forum.

    Oh, don't me wrong.

I think HUD will be awesome, especially when true augmentation is implemented.

I just believe that Google probably won't be the company to 'get it right'.

I hear ya. My idea of "adding to your life" isn't about getting ad bubbles telling me the price and location of every for sale item I see as I walk down the street.

This doesn't sound intrusive at all. Maybe the glasses can start tracking what people look at and make google services EVEN BETTER with more targeted ads! Augmented Reality while driving will be epic.

    love gimmicks.

Google's gonna put the Motor back in Motorola. Once Motorola skids off the road in the phone and tablet business, Google will ready to position eye-wear as a visionary product.

Beenie hats with spinners will be the next twist if the spectacle business goes bust.

Are you kidding? They'll probably turn us into spies for Google Streetview. Also, it'll track the location of the wearer.

they can also monitor your brain activity when ad is displayed and count it as a click

Tell that to the 5 or so women I see on the road on my way home with a phone in one hand that the wheel in the other.

Also it would be more difficult for police to see someone who has a stylish HUD in their face.

Methinks Google employees have been watching too much Big Bang Theory.

I don't want a HUD, I want FULL IMMERSIVE VR.

On like a "multi-directional treadmill" to simulate continuous movement in free space

Not playing Angry Birds with glasses. *sigh*

Not so I can walk down the street and hallucinate [aka augmented reality] without taking LSD.

*Drops to my Knees* STEEEEEEEVVEEEEEE!!!!!! Come back, man!
