You can see it there if you want to check. I convinced the seller to drop the shipping charges for instant payment and feedback and no insurance needed. I was willing to take the risk.
But of course, if Apple chooses to make a TV set, they will fail because as Samsung says, "TV's are all about picture quality" ...
who, from Samsung, said such a device would fail in the marketplace? if you are alluding to what Moseley said in February 2012, you are simply misquoting him.
speaking of display devices, the Samsung ES8000 edge-lit LED due this year will include, among other things, voice and gesture control and a Webkit-based web browser. sounds rather promising.
So is this panel a version of the one Samsung announced back in November, I wonder?
That panel was a 2560 x 1600 300 dpi pentile. If it is, those people on these forums who denounced pentile previously because it was used in Samsung phones, will either have to eat humble pie or forego buying one.
1) It's clearly not PenTile because it's not an RGBG display. They clearly show it's RGB.
2) The problem with PenTile isn't because it's used on Samsung phones (or because it's a Samsung technology) but because it's an inferior technology. Essentially uses less power, it's cheaper and thinner than RGB for the same stated resolution, but it has 1/3 fewer sub-pixels which result is less crisp and accurate images.
3) I'm thinking this is LG's IPS tech.I'd wager it's AH-IPS. Samsung doesn't seem much interested IPS these days except as a manufacturer.
If small pixels were so hard, I don't understand why they did not make the display a bit bigger, say 10.5" or 11.3". This would still be a retina display, and the larger size would be a big improvement for media and images such as magazine covers, or plain document reading.
This is a totally custom display anyway, so Apple could have made it any size they wanted.
Also, a slightly larger iPad could have been thinner, by spreading out the battery more. (Power draw would increase a little from extra LEDs, but CPU, GPU, RAM, and radios would all use the exact same power).

With iOS you can't just alter the display output without also altering the input. Everything would be a little bigger. The whole reason Apple went with 2x resolution is so that current iPad apps would lot as good as they did before by much better once idealized for the new display. Bottom line: A new size wasn't an option.
Didn't see that it was 3G model he purchased. My apologies. That makes his purchase an excellent one.
The rest of the ad-homs weren't necessary BTW and come off as arrogant and childish. The forums are better off without personal attacks on fellow members.
In addition to him mentioning that it was 3G, in your post you copied my post which said that Apple was selling the model for $829 on Tuesday. Apple has always only charges $x29 for the 3G iPad models, which again you already know.
Your posts on AI are frequently trollish which anyone who?s been here for more than a month well knows. It often appears that you see the information you want to and ignore the info that refutes your message, as is the case again this time.

The ergonomics of a device are (or should be) designed by utility alone.
The size of the components are designed to be the "perfect" size for the end user not the perfect size for the display manufacturer. To alter the device's ergonomics for reasons of economics is the exact wrong way to go about designing a product and one of the main reasons why other designed from other companies often fail.

I've been wrong a half-dozen times here, and admitted to every one of them AFAIK. It's not terribly frequent nor do I post half-truths. As for knowing Apple's pricing policies that's a big assumption. I would pay attention to that only if I commonly purchased or considered purchasing iPads. I would guess even most who had bought iPads weren't aware Apple always priced that way. We all probably missed the announcement.
Trollish behavior would include "childish commenters who deploy inflammatory and boorish antics". There's also an egregious troll who according to ArsTechnica is "Any troll that personally attacks someone else in our community. If you're not bright enough to criticize ideas without personally criticizing individuals, we're not interested in having you around. If a user chooses to venture into the territory of trolling others, it is their fault and their fault alone for what happens to them next. We will not weep for trolls, nor will we feel any remorse."
I do my utmost to be respectful to even those with trollish behavior(!), just as I avoided responding in kind to you. The forums would be better off if we all did.

No, you are very condescending, passive aggressive attacks on others, being contrary just to argue and not really helping move the discussion. Although I am impressed by your copy and paste skills, which you cherry pick. Must be a slow day running all your businesses and being a graphic artist, to troll these boards all the time.
Let us have a moment of silence for AMOLED/Pentile (the way to make specs state higher resolution than is really delivered... because each pixel isn?t even a full pixel):
I would've, except it was black and I wanted navy, and I can pick that up NIB for $32 on the web, so I made an extra $8 swapping for the color I want.
I had that for my iPad 2. I think it's a good choice.

I wonder what Apple's acceptable rate for defective pixels is?
All things being equal there are 4x as many pixels so if the percentages stay the same you'll have 4x as many. That said, i don't know of anyone having a problem with this on the iPhone 4/4S which have 106,276px per sq inch compared to the iPad 3's 70,225px per sq inch.

I just wonder how he got his off eBay so cheap before the new iPad was released.

?therefore it is my professional opinion that it's hard to make stuff small. So we should just keep making computers big forever.
Oh, wait.
Eventually we'll see larger multitouch devices, but they won't be iPads and they won't be laptops.

Hell yeah!
I'll be buying the new 16 gig wifi iPad from Best Buy.
I suppose then I'll just be content with you being surprised then. . .
BTW are you ordering the new iPad or did you already replace the one you lost?
I can't wait to see this screen at my local Apple store. I live on south beach in Florida and the Apple store on Lincoln Road is just two blocks away.
Hell yeah!

Why buy it from BB if you've got an Apple Store two blocks away? Reward Zone points? Is $5 worth of points worth the pain of shopping there?
