Siri is still a beta product, nifty for the easy stuff like setting your calendar, alarms, send sms, ... for the more complicated stuff like understanding different accents, understanding general questions,... give them (her) some time to get it out of the Beta stage...

It's not like they don't print it everywhere they possibly can that this is just a beta product, that's now rolled out to the biggest test public they ever used. But how otherwise they will learn from all different accents and questions people come up with.

I think the way Apple has chosen is the best way to get Siri out to a full product in reasonable time frame, just use all iPhone 4S users as their beta testing grounds. Don't forget that this is still a computer trying to understand human speech, faults will happen, certainly as you have to think that this is the first babystep for Siri, I think some people forget that our brain is way more complicated on the communication front then any computer/sfotware can mimic today.

Siri sucks in noisy environments. I stopped using it after about a month.

That's the result of very poor microphone technology. This is one thing that we've not come close to perfecting. Perhaps the solution lies with getting the system to recognize our voice patterns through a learned system so that is can more intelligently learn which sound waves it need to focus.

I have switched it off as have most people I know who have the 4s.

I don't believe that 80%+ of users actually have this rubbish switched on!

It amazes me that people on an IT site, who should know better, pass judgement on a feature that is in beta.

I use Siri often, mainly for writing texts and emails, which have became longer as a result, because I am more comfortable using Siri than the iPhone keyboard. I also have the Air Dictate app and dictate emails to my Macbook Pro using my iPhone as a sort of microphone. I think Siri is already amazing and I enjoy using it. Well done Apple. Using Siri is a new skill because it helps to plan what one is going to say and before speaking, and to say it clearly without hesitation and including the punctuation.

I'm hoping Apple will soon increase the capacity of its servers because there are times when Siri is slow to respond, or doesn't respond at all. Also, I'm in the UK, and Siri can't yet search for businesses outside of the US.

Siri will get better and I'm looking forward to how it will be in the future.

Perhaps then it should never have been released if you can't use it in the real world out on the street.

The original advertisement had people in cars and one guy joggin by himself near a serene lake- very misleading. I thought this would work or fail based upon its success outdoors in an urban environment and in my use it is very much an epic FAil.

That's like saying "maybe the iPad shouldn't have come with Wi-Fi since you can't use Wi-Fi out on the street".
