You mean retaliate? No, why would they?
Google has enough problems trying to make their app store as successful as Apple's.
They aren't interested in hurting Apple as much as they are in expanding Android.

Calling Apple "evil" tells me less about what they are doing, and more about your particular value judgments.

Dude, don't you have a "99%" whine-session to go to or something?
Just because Apple doesn't cater to your specific wants, doesn't make it evil.
People are voting with their hard-earned money, and those votes show that Apple is providing products and services which millions and millions and millions of people eagerly want.
And not just mobile. Read the data: Mac has been growing like gangbusters, while Windows is moribund. The MacBook Air has been nothing short of revolutionary. But I suppose you know better than all the millions who are switching to Mac.
Even from a purely corporate and capitalistic sense, the world would be a far better place if more companies did precisely what Apple does: focus on a few things you can do well, and seek to delight the customer above all else.
There's plenty of true evil in the world. You don't need to try to force that description on Apple.
In our home we have iPads, Androids (the iPhone is nice, but I like a bigger screen and more customizations), a MacBook Air, a Windows Netbook, an old Windows desktop PC, and two iPod Touches. With each purchase we chose what worked out best for us. There is no "dark side".
Plus Chomp wasn't that great for Android - AppBrain is the clear leader.
Just as Google releases Google Drive with support for all the major platforms, showing yet again how Google supports technology the lets you work the way you want to work (and that they aren't afraid of a little competition)...
Apple buys yet another 'innovation' and then removes any reference to their competition.
And why is it that Apple, for all their apparent brilliance, is incapable of supporting any of their technology on more than a handful of devices. Sounds to me like Apple isn't about enabling it's loyal users, it's all about limiting their choices.

It has nothing to do with being incapable. It's a matter of Apple not having any desire to support the competition and offering a package of devices and software that they can be sure will work well together. Since they have no control over the crappy Android phones being sold, there's no reason for them to support them.
Apple was all about Google until the google CEO who sat on apple's board stole Apple's brainchild and started building its own mobile phone and iOS ripoff.
Your speech was almost meaningful, if Google hand't tried to forcibly rape Apple's intellectual virgin butthole, you might have actually created some sympathy for the Squirrel.
As it is, not so much.
That was my best analogy of all time. I even impressed me.
Why would they "reply in kind" anyway? Looking at Google's application store, Google Play, they already have (all?) the search features that Chomp offered. No harm to Google that I can think of.
Yea their is none, actually as an Android user this is the first I've even heard of Chomp and I read a lot of tech sites, a mean a lot, as I've been stuck in a hospital bed for the last 2 months. This program will not be missed at least not by me. I rarely use the Android Store anyway, I download all of my .apk install files and keep them up to date myself. When I need to restore I use a script from the command line that goes threw my entire app directory and installs them in the background. I have about 20 programs in which I use everyday with another 60 that I also have installed on my phone and tablets. As I write my one distribution or ROM for Android I'm constantly compiling and wiping out my stuff so I needed a quick app install method .Plus it makes it easier to send a program to my parents via email, especially my mom who always want's to play with the newest and greatest. It's really neat to, when you send a program via email, Gmail actually shows an install button right there in the message, talk about a really great feature.
They only make money off of Apple owners using Google, nada from the Android users.
With MS pushing "BING" and Apple moving away from pushing Google, the idea of giving away Android and buying MotoMo is costing Google a lot of money in primary, secondary and tertiary ways.
On the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, Google management is poised to to be kicked off the bridge right into a lifeboat.
Which is why they generally buy up anyone who could be a competitor…
Yea Apple does that to, probably more then most companies and if they can't buy them they'll sue them, standard practice nowadays for all company's it seems.

I hope they do, they can take their advertising with them and the money they make doing it.
They won't.
Google are about money not principles.

That is not true at all.
Illegal abuse of monopoly power is illegal. Monopolies, per se, are not.

just as it is for Apple, Microsoft, Samsung and the rest of the tech players. Principles don't pay very well.

As long as 'the way you want to work' is 'by giving us access to do what we want with everything you upload'.
