Perhaps you should pay attention. The advantage is that the walled garden provides security and minimal standards. I'd prefer that over the malware that's rampant on Android.

Don't worry about it - they will. They're not big enough to beat Apple on this issue - and there are other online storage options to choose from, so if they try to play hardball, they'll lose too many customers.
