    .....

    Which will be the name

    "The new iPhone "

    IMHO

So the previous 4 times that they've previewed the OS first didn't give you a clue? iOS 2, 3, and 4 were all previewed months in advance of their respective new phones that released in June/July, and iOS 5 was the same, only it was previewed at WWDC. WWDC is shaping up to be a software keynote, with Mac hardware upgrades when needed/ready. iPhone is too big to be a "One more thing" at WWDC anymore, so don't get your hopes up.

I'm thinking about it, but don't want to take a chance of things not working right when I take my trip to Peru soon. iOS 5 beta 2 worked fine for me in NYC last year however....

Hopefully, this new release will make iOS less stale and stagnant. After using Windows Phone 7, I honestly think iOS looks and feels antiquated now.

No, I'm not trolling. I now have a Lumia 900, just to give it a whirl, since my iPhone4 contract was upgraded in May. WP7 is so well made it makes me wonder if Microsoft is feeling ill or has been replaced with an evil (good?) twin.

iOS is still leaps and bounds ahead of Android, we all know that; but Windows Phone just needs a hand full of extra features and it'll be way ahead of iOS. In terms of user experience, in my honest opinion, Windows Phone has already beaten iOS by a considerable degree.

We're running http://tryos6.com for those of you looking to activate your devices and install the beta today (following the event). Some of you may remember we did this last year and had many happy customers!

True, I should really start rereading my post entries and making them more clear before submitting.

What I'm really trying to say is while I do understand not everything can be slammed into one keynote, I feel it makes more sense to make an iOS announcement along with the introduction of a new iPhone.

Since iPhone ushered in the new era of mobile OS as well as a new revolutionary handset (which everyone copies) I feel they go hand in hand and I think it makes perfect sense to group them together for a more powerful message and impact.

Apple believes in hardware software unity which is created, controlled, and operated by one company. This makes the iPhone (IMO) operate more efficiently than other phones, more secure, more intuitive . . ect

This belief can be no better supported and stated by debuting them together in one keynote.

Segregation in this, makes no sense to me.

It also helps new adopters better understand how they work in unison, as well as help reinforce the the knowledge of the new features.

The first iPhone keynote was like this. Admittanly because it had to be, but I thought it was the most effective.

The iPhone gets the most attention in the media, why not put them together?

No need to worry about trolling. I think your thoughts and conversation like this are healthy and necessary for the industry. You also stated your thoughts very nicely.

You may be right about windows phone, I've heard good things about it. Might check it out soon.
But it will most likely suffer from the same problem android is. Multiple hardware iterations by every company trying to out do eachother every other month. This is causing a segregation of the OS due to all the different options and hardware features that make it difficult for the OS to be as unified as it can be. To put it simply . . Amongst other things. Lol

Most my android friends can't even run, or haven't received the newest OS becaus their handset either can't run it or the software hasn't been made to support it yet.

I don't know maybe I'm wrong but I can see windows (if it picks up steam like the android and apple) going the same way eventually.
