The reason Samscum and others sell a lot of phones is because of two reasons, 1. They are the only phones a lot of places are actively trying to push on people, at the expense of the iPhone, and 2. They are practically being given away with BOGO deals and other rediculous offers that people lap up.

In many instances new phone buyers are hijacked before they even get to see an iPhone.

I see two reasons, firstly Android is not locked to a 2 or 3 hardware SKU's therefore manufacturers such as Samsung can make modern phones with features people require at a more affordable price, sure you dont get all the features of a top of the line model but for a lot of people they get what they want, Apple dont yet offer a entry level model, in my eyes only mid - high end and high end so for a lot of people this is out of there price range.

Secondly they do offer high end phones that rival (SII) and surpass the 4s in hardware at least (SIII), Not everyone wants a iPhone so there is a good alternative for them.

To say they are hijacked I would say is not correct, everyone knows about the iPhone so its not as if they dont know about it, again I think it comes down to cost and preference, cant afford a iPhone? a entry - mid range Android based phone is a good alternative.

Around here, all of the electronics companies and the Telcos advertise Android and Blackberry phones to the exclusion of everything else. Of course, most of these phones are free, or two for one when you sign a contract. There is very little iPhone advertising. There are iPhone 3GS and even iPhone 4's being offered for free, but who wants a two or three year old phone??? There is the odd deal for a free iPhone 4S, but that's only because it's about to be replaced by the new iPhone.

Let's be honest, who is going to sign up for a free iPhone 4S for three years, when the new one is just weeks away from being announced?

So the average fence-sitting prospective phone purchaser walks into a Rogers store. The salesman will pitch him on an  Android phone. It looks like an iPhone, it does a lot of stuff similar to an iPhone...... Hmmmm..... And it's FREE??? What, the free iPhones are two year old models?  You tell me which phone is about to be sold.....

Then of course, he buys it, and realizes what a crappy phone he has just been roped into buying........

I have a few co-workers that have had this exact thing happen to them. They can't wait to get rid of their Android POS.....

Yea good deal for the average joe, Nothing wrong with Android, I have used both Android and IOS and tbh there pretty simalar, both do pretty much the same thing, for me Android edges it but thats my preference, true get Android on a crap phone and its not a great experience, but get it on good hardware and it works a dream.

All a matter of preference, like OSX / Windows ect, all do pretty much the same thing these days.

    So your argument is essentially:

"He had to have stolen from that store owner even though he was no where near the store because we have him on Camera a week ago stealing some candy from that same store!!!!"

Do you see your logical error?

Ok lets see the Mac Mini was copied by Samsung, iPhone was copied by Samsung (allegedly)  and the iPad again copied by Samsung. 2/3 Apple's top selling products and best in class on the market at present. You want to tell me, using Samsung overall is a cop out....LOL

This case is not only about the look, but also functionality, do you see logical error in your examples, probably not, too busy listen to your own voice, smiling that you have  given sound logical arguments.

so the Galaxy Nexus is functionally a clone of the iPhone?

    Tell me how?

My point is, and I don't know why the **** you're acting like I'm defending Samsung but your lack of ability to read is pretty damn annoying, that the fact that a known and provable copycat also made something else that is essentially not their own product but Google's doesn't mean that everything that is attributable to their own products is also attributable to a product they simply manufactured.

Smartphone lawsuits, like life, are NOT a zero sum game.

Well if you write like you defending Samsung, then we will take it you are defending Samsung!

Maybe you should be more careful what you write and be clear in your words.

Seems like this Moderator needs to go back to computer school. How can you be THAT impartial on a forum that is open to all?

You talk about freedom of justice but you have completely contradicted yourself by ridiculing those with such a free opinion.

Totally spelt my username wrong btw.

You have to sign up here to post. That makes it private. I also don't see what the rest of the sentence is trying to say.

Well if you are going to be pedantic then it's open to all who wish to partake, Jeez.

Basically, treat your users like you want your country to treat it's people, allowing freedom of opinion and respect for those opinions.

Or you could just move to North Korea, seems you would be better suited there.

That's not how a private forum works. It is never "anything goes", anywhere. Not even on the most notorious public forums.

Never did I once say that...ever...I see you failed at reading comprehension too. Even if Samsung copied 99% of Apple products (I believe it's closer to 75%) the Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus S fall in that 25%.
so the iPhone and the Galaxy Nexus are twins? The Galaxy Nexus is a direct rip off of the iPhone?
    You're smarter than that Skil.
There is enough "no shit" evidence that Samsung is a blatant thief and copycat without having to brainwash yourself into believing that EVERYTHING by them is a copycat product.

Here's me apparently defending Samsung...according to your drunken logic.
not quite sure what you're point is....
do you believe the Galaxy Nexus, a Google phone manufactured by Samsung, is a copycat product like Samsung's own products, for the most part, are?

There I go again...defending Samsung...I'm the worst defender in the world I see.

Yea, I came onto here after reading the article hoping that people would be open to discussion, such a shame that everyone seems to be under the influence of the Apple reality distortion feild, ill go back to lurking, shame as this site does come up with interesting articles, shame about the forum though.

Oh and for the mod who wanted my picture, guess he must have a thing for looking at other people machines, here is a picture of me with my Macbook :

See, your belief of this is what makes it impossible to have a discussion with anti-Apple people.

This is utterly meaningless without context. What's your point?
