Cool.  What time (on 9/14) did you originally pre-order?

Well my Apple order wasn't processed or billed yet so that might have helped. And persistency. It took about 20 minutes but the AT&T operator went to his supervisor and told him my situation and they pushed it through somehow. I wasn't leaving the store parking lot until they changed my status! Once I gave them my cancellation # from Apple and that seemed to do it. The store associates couldn't help, but the AT&T phone customer service was awesome.

IMO, every change they make to the forums makes AI worse.  I used to be able to read the forums very well on my iPhone without scrolling horizontally (or putting up with an incredibly small font to see the name of the poster and the content).  Now the new front page introduces extra clicks as from an article I have to "Jump to comments" then click "View All".

The other thing that is annoying is that some articles are published before they are finished.  Sometimes the last paragraph doesn't make sense, or large amounts of content or graphics are added later.  I have to go back to articles which I have already read to check if there is additional content.

    Eighty....../three/ percent?

What I want to know, did they round up or down? And were the Apple stores chosen at random representing typical average stores? And nothing about the standard deviation! Clearly we're missing a LOT of information here!

    Hurrumph!

I would use it as a door stopper except that it would ruin the look of my doors at home. Maybe I'd use it at work? Don't care how bad it looks there....

Montreal store update:  At 12:30 there was still a 100 person line outside.  The store as been selling iphones non stop since 8:00am and people keep adding up to the line so its still there.  I dont know how much inventory they have but it must be huge.

But i thought lines were only long last year because of Steve Job's death? That's what all the trolls and myopic assholes told us anyway.

Interesting. Anyone care to report what the lines look like at some of the other stores in the NYC area? In particular, I'm curious about Grand Central. At some point before my contract rescission period runs out I do want to try to get the no-commitment phone.

Swung by an AT&T store in South Austin over lunch and they had no line and only 64 GB White left.

Edit: store.apple.com status also says it's not eligible to cancel because "Since your items are ready for shipment we are unable to cancel or change your order." Ready for shipment but won't ship for another week....

Now I'm not complaining, just confused. My fault for dragging ass placing my order.

I believe they are formulating a plan to slavishly copy the iPhone 5, or maybe they will move on and copy somebody else. haha.

Doubtful. Why would they be envious? They sell more phones. And why would anyone be envious of an outdated phone with an old, stale OS that now letterboxes all 3rd party apps since it can't scale properly, a phone that dents and scratches easily, has pathetic battery life, is severely lacking in hardware, and looks like a stretched turd? I'm not even gonna mention maps, since that is a joke all by itself. And if you live outside the US, well, according to Apple's maps your city may not even exist. Not that Apple really gives a shit about anyon3 or anything outside the US anyway.

If anything I think Samsung execs are laughing their heads off at Apple's incompetence.

Someone's laughing at someone else's incompetence. You got THAT part right, at least.

Samsung take note: your ads seem to have no negative effect on Apple sales, but hey, they're your millions of dollars to throw away as you see fit.

The whole ad campaign just reeks of desperation on Samsung's part so I imagine the iPhone 5 has really got them worried them just like the original iPhone did in 2007.

As a matter of fact you could argue that a strategy of ridiculing Apple 'line-waiters' is especially ineffective coming from a company like Samsung which produces clearly inferior products when Every. Single. Person. In. Those. Lines. Knows. It. Of course I'm hoping there is no line when I go to buy my iPhone 5 but as that's VERY unlikely I'll have no problem waiting a few hours either.

Getting the best is worth the wait.
