1) No other Apple product has changed so much YoY.
2) The black and silver models don't look bad but overall they all like really bad Chinese KIRFs of the Lumia.
3) That headphone jack si keeping these things from going thinner. I'd say within two years we might see Apple release something better. (No, I don't mean BT, I mean a smaller plug on the HW)
4) It's only $50 less than the 2011 iPod Touch. Who would buy that over a larger, more capable product? (Hint: This is really a veiled question about the iPad mini)

Remember when the iPod mini was $50 less than the basic iPod with like 5x the capacity, and still made best selling iPod?
My favorite was the 5G iPod Nano, except for lack of a touchscreen and bluetooth (both not that important in a device such as this) it was the most feature packed and versatile, and came in a lot of great colors.
I kind of agree. The 5G Nano was my favorite. If I have the spare coin, I'd get a Classic at this point before the 30-pin dock connector is completely dead, so I can use my Sound Dock for a couple more years.
I kind of agree. I think it's the best looking one but the increase in display size moved the clickwheel further down which I think took away some of the usability, if ever so slightly.
Garbage! The 6th was onto brilliance! The addition of the huge home button is the meaning of un innovative! The addition of Bluetooth is the only pro. Videos... On a nano. Stupid! Nano is for mobility! I wanted a removable clip. Retina screen & Bluetooth. YES a watch. With 8gb storage only! (paired iphone w/ more storage)(internal only for gym playlist) It could easily go from watch to gym clip...or gym watch(bluetooh), not to mention an external case with buttons for gym(bluetooth) or jawbone jambox magnet like ipad smartcover. Outside of gym...Paired with the iPhone (watch) = received calls you view a name/ number and a red/green button. Green = out of pocket/purse or Bluetooth headset(car). How about iPhone music control. Or let's say u leave your iPhone on table/ in car. Watch vibrates/ makes noise at 5 feet. How about controlling a keynote presentation from your watch!Add a mic, For Siri integration(paired iphone required) This is no nano nor the iwatch. This is a iPod touch mini! More than what we wanted. We have mp3 and better video on our phones. Or for not much more the real iPod touch! Consider the ball dropped!

Apple are the geniuses of the up-sell. There's always something better $50 above what you want to pay - so you find an extra 50 and you get it. Always.

I think you're really looking for a Bluetooth headset, the stereo ones have buttons to control music apps. A Dick Tracy super watch is still a bit much to ask, give that a couple more years.

If the upsell is to get you to buy the iPod Classic then why did the iPod mini become so popular?

I like the prior version with the small screen and clip. It's great in the gym. I was surprised that Apple went into this xmas season with these great looking iPod nanos without including 3G for access to iTunes in the cloud.
I'm pretty sure I've purchased my last iPod that needs to be tethered to my Mac. I want something small that syncs across devices and doesn't require a computer.
WIth iCloud being such a touted feature these days, I was surprised to see the new pods left out of the party.
The thing I find most surprising about the new nano is that they didn't repurpose and keep selling the old one as the new shuffle. I don't get that.
The watch form factor is pretty darn cool, and they knew people liked it. This new one affords video and Bluetooth, so that's nice, too. Eventually I imagine it would be physically possible to put Bluetooth directly into the old size and do with that some of what came to this one (and more).

I doubt the cost would keep inline with Shuffle prices. If the sales were high enough I would think that they continued to sell it the way they are still selling G4 iPod Touch. Since they aren't I'm guessing it's just not worth it to them.

I do! It was the first iPod that interested me and not coincidentally the first iPod I bought.

Where you see "toy" I see the ultimate sophistication: simplicity.

Were on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th nano. It's hardly stupid.
I wanted a removable clip. Retina screen…
You were never going to get this.
With 8gb storage only! (paired iphone w/ more storage)
This was never going to happen.
Or let's say u leave your iPhone on table/ in car.
Then it's out of range of your watch anyway.
Watch vibrates/ makes noise at 5 feet.
A vibrating watch, that's… that'd feel so weird.
How about controlling a keynote presentation from your watch!
Why about controlling a Keynote from your watch?
Add a mic, For Siri integration(paired iPhone required)…
Seems like a lot of lag for little reason.
More than what we wanted.
And somehow this is a bad thing? And you're complaining about this? I mean, come on.
Consider the ball dropped!
As disgusted as I am to admit it, I think I've found what could be another Rule…

Get the black one, so.
Lol, well spotted and so true.

No response was necessary to this rather obvious troll. Zune? Apple gets the last laugh even if you don't respond..
