That site says the thermal connections suggest that there isn't a dedicated GPU. 9too5Mac says the entry model will be $1699.
It's looking like the spec will be the following:
dual-core i5
HD 4000
2560 x 1600
256GB SSD
8GB soldered RAM
dual Thunderbolt
dual USB 3
HDMI
SD slot
$1699
Given that the 13" Air is $1499 for a ULV i5, 256GB SSD, 4GB RAM, HD 4000, it's not that bad. You basically get an extra TB port, 4GB RAM, a faster CPU and a Retina screen for $200.
I think the HD 4000 will seriously struggle running at that resolution though, especially with up to 3 external displays attached. There's no way it'll run Diablo 3 at full res at any playable frame rates.
Ultrabook makers can fit a 640M into Ultrabooks, there's no reason one couldn't go into a $1699 Macbook Pro.
Nice but disappointing find. I'm not a "GPU guy" but that does seems like an issue. Even with thinning it out I thought the removal of the HDD and ODD would allow for at least some dGPU to power 4x the resolution.
Not that I personally care as I'll be letting go of my 13" MBP after having nearly every model and PB's before that for over a decade in favour of an iMac for home use, and my iPad and iPhone for portability.
As long as they don't ruin the machine with crud intel only graphics I'll be buying one, haven't replaced my ageing 2008 13" MacBook Aluminium due to Apple trying to fob people off with Intel Graphics in a pro machine.
Anyone know (or guess) the weight difference between this and the MBA13? Trying to figure out whether its worth the upgrade. Definitely need the RAM.
If you go by the weight reduction in the 15", the 13" will likely be 1.52-1.63kg (3.35-3.59lbs) vs the Air's 1.35kg (2.96lbs). Around 20% heavier than the Air at most where the current one is over 50% heavier.
I think as the prices of these Retina machines drop, they will have to start culling some of the old lineup. There is no point in having a $1499 Air and $1499 Retina MBP with the Air only being 0.5lb lighter at best. Hopefully this will happen next year.
If you are right about that weight reduction, I am all for it. I will never notice the extra 1/3 pound, but I will definitely notice the increased speed and the increased RAM a 13" RD would have. My only concern will be that high density display on a 13" but I will check it out in the store next week!

Think that you were safe on this post without the sarcasm tag... risky of course but survivable.
The images must have been captured with an iPhone 5, given the purple haze!
Your move Apple!

I'll echo that thought on the floating point coprocessor. It's a no-go without one!

Lol! (At least I know to what you are referring!)

We don't have to imagine. They'll destroy it because Apple's updating the real iPad so early.

These pictures have the same feel to them as those leaked of the casing of the unibody MacBook Pro. This is very real, in my book.
