The great blunt drab irony of all this shopping-opportunity journalism is that these McShoppes could be absolutely anywhere on earth, as could their crowds.
One could argue that The Temples of the Fruit are relatively tasteful, functional, and even innovative %u2013 after all, the mercantile bar is set plenty low. But distinctive? That would violate their purpose, which is to provide a uniform, homogenous experience which is ultimately as dulling as it is dull.
Mass production requires - more than anything else - a mass, undistinguished market. No matter where you go, there you are and there they are, and you and they are all, everywhere, always the same.

Generally I agree, but I think you don't give Apple enough credit for some of the wonderful ways they have respected the architectural integrity of some of the older buildings that house them. They have a theme (a formula if you will) that can be adapted to suit the site. Most other mercantile efforts pale by comparison.

I think it's inexcusable you guys don't have one yet.

It's great to see the amazing Apple Store designs they've done, but it'd be nice to see them put a little more thought into the store here in Lynnwood, WA.  It's always full of people and yet I've been in Radio Shack's that are bigger.  I'm not saying it's a bad thing that Apple create these amazing stores in other cities, but it'd be nice if the smaller stores received some attention by Apple to make them look better.  Our Apple Store looks paltry next to the ones that have been featured in other cities.
