So if Samsung rips off Google on this phone who ripped off Apple on their OS, can Apple sue Samsung again through the transitive property of lawyering? image

It's okay, because if Motorola makes a good phone, the others will just copy it and undercut them on price.

Samsung probably has a Google-free fork of Android ready and waiting.

So something that has no touch controls and looks like it was made in 2004?

No. Read applesauce007's post to get the idea.

    gee what a surprise.

but Apple needs to get off its high horse and incorporate many of Android's convenient UI tools that it has stubbornly ignored so far. improved versions, no doubt. now that Forstall's gone hopefully iOS 7 will be a big jump forward.

Google might as well compete against their own licensees. Motorola's fresh outta FRAND patents.

How nerdy can these android phone names get? DROID RAZR MAXX HD? NEXXUS? X?

How about calling it the DROID HARDWARE BONER X?

So, Google is now competing against one of their allies?  True colors show.  I guess this will mark the beginning of the Android meltdown.  Battling against one another for market share.

It looks like Google and Samsung tried to go after Apple, now with their heads of their rear ends, Google is going after Samsung.

Apple will just continue on leaving Samsung behind.

I can't wait for Apple to get Maps where there aren't any complaints. I tried Google Maps and frankly, wasn't impressed.  I also tried Chrome browser and took that Beta crap off of my computer.   It put too many weird files in too many places.

2013 will be an interesting year to say the least.

Maybe they will wish they had bought or licensed webOS? :D

I stand corrected over Acer's PC market share, thank you for the figures. :)

Market share is one metric... but I think Acer's profit is down Q2Q.

It's a tough time for PC makers.

In the end I really don't think any Google-branded phone (or tablet) will make a difference.

Somehow, they all go down the same road (with the notable exception of Windows):

    1. Get really big with help of and working together with Apple

    2. look at Apple and think: But I can do that too!

    3. try to beat Apple, fail.

    4. get together with all other competitors, try to beat apple together, fail.

    5. after a couple of years of trying, turn around, shoot your partners in the head, and steal their marketshare.

    6. be just as bad as before, and thus not competitive, fail.

    7. leave the market for Apple to take, forget it ever existed.

    8. cry in the corner of your room, eat a lot of chocolate, convince yourself you never wanted it.

    9. wait for Apple to create a new market

    10. repeat.

I'm an Apple guy, but if Google get their act together, these 'X' projects could be very good! I hope Apple are watching their back, already the Nexus 4 has beaten the iPhone 5 in a number of comparison reviews in Europe, even though I'm not convinced - yet.

In what planet the nexus beats the iphone? Are you on drugs? I dont understand it when ignorants trully believe what they are saying... There is no doubt in your statment, did someone brainwashed you?

besides that, why did you start with the i am a apple guy? To give credibility to your stupidity?

about this thread... I dont agree with people that want samsung to stab google. Vanilla android is very good, not a copy of iOS. Samsung is the enemy, google and vanilla android is a great alternative for other phones, even if the iphone is obviously the best on every single metric.

samsung is the one that uses that skin, samsung is the one that copied hardware and sells lies.. Samsung is the one that is corrupt. Google does great things, even if they are far from being on par with apple.

That was with the help of Netbooks.

With Windows 8 not getting the push it needs, netbooks going down the drain, and surface outselling pc manu tablet sales, I'm willing to bet Acer starts to lose again.

That's a great name for their new phone. They should spell it Ex-Phone though.
