Apple to receive technical Emmy award for streaming TV content to mobile devices

in General Discussion edited January 2014
Apple will be awarded a Technology & Engineering Emmy on Thursday for its work on streaming tech that allows mobile device users to view TV content in real time without requiring specialized production hardware.

Apple has won the Emmy for an "Eco-system for Real Time Presentation of TV Content to Mobile Devices without the use of Specialized Television Hardware," which will be presented later tonight at a special ceremony in Las Vegas. The

The television awards body did not name the exact Apple technology that was given the nod, but the The Loop's Jim Dalrymple believes it could be related to the company's cloud infrastructure.

From the press release:
Awards are presented to an individual, company, or to a scientific or technical organization for developments and/or standardization involved in engineering technologies which either represent an extensive improvement on existing methods or are so innovative in nature that they materially have affected the transmission, recording, or reception of television.
The 63rd Annual Technology and Engineering Emmy Awards, at which Apple will take receipt of the award, is scheduled for tonight at the Bellagio hotel.

The technical Emmys are more an Achievement than an award...

The technical Emmys are real, (just like the technical oscars(r)) because the "under the line" movie making part, time is money, therefore the production end of the movie/tv business only uses "gimmicks" if it make things faster. if it makes it the same, the quote "if it is not broken, don't fix it" applies.

the "Emmys" for the Tv shows "above the line"... yes alot of lobbying.. (not sure if the writers are above the line, or below the line)
