And Samsung "shipped" 15 million SIIIs.

As a pro user, I can easily separate the content I work on daily out to an external SSD (USB 3.0 for now until someone figures out how to make TB HDD enclosures without a drive in them) and be fine with the internal HDD (just the OS plus apps) be a Fusion drive.  What's the problem?

I'd actually rather have my main SSD be an external drive rather than an internal one so that I can work at different machines and get the same performance.

That's Apple's fiscal Q4 which ended at the end of September. The Q4 noted here is from the calendar year which ended at the end of December.

the real question is why anyone pays attention to all these "analysts" predictions/rumors. because every 3 months Apple reports the actual sales totals! we can't wait??

it always turns out most of the "analysts'" predictions were close on a few things and significantly off on many. anyone who relies on a track record like that to "invest" in the stock market is a fool.

of course i realize the real reason they issue their "reports" is to draw attention to themselves/their company to market their services. and the real reason the websites constantly pick up these "reports" is to generate hits. including Apple Insider.

but what is really helpful instead is explaining what has actually - really - just happened. if you can't explain the past you'll never be able to foresee the future. yet i rarely see that kind of genuine analysis.

short term speculators - options, shorts, etc. -  are just trying to game the market, and this plays right into their hands. but medium term traders and long term true investors are looking at the actuals to try to figure out what to do.

no one needs all this f'ing self-serving noise. i'll wait until next week.

Wow,, you think it's slow? Then you must have very high standards.

After receiving my loaded 27" iMac yesterday - I had the opportunity to install Parallels 8 along with Windows 7 - Windows 7 installed from disc to finish in under 5 minutes.

Anyone considering a new iMac with fusion, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. Besides it being Extr fast - every bit of important information from your iphone or ipad; including: passwords, contacts, links and bookmark bar, iMessage, mail - everything will be available on your iMac by the time you finish the registration process.

You may have gotten lucky in the stores right before Xmas but if you wanted any BTO options you had to wait. The 27" pretty quickly said it ships in January during the part of December it was available. Those sales aren't counted until the money is taken from your account, which is when it's prepared for shipping.

A critical board member would be asking who was in charge of overall product design philosophy (designing and launching a product that apparently couldn't be produced in quantities sufficient to meet the holiday rush) and launch schedules and be seriously wondering why that person has a job.  As much as a supply chain expert as Tim Cook was lauded as, Apple sure has had a series of total debacles since Jobs left this plane.

I already said what the problem was, namely, at the moment it's the cost of external TB SSDs. btw Seagate make an external TB enclosure

Right because Jobs's tenure was filled with one hit after another. The cube, mobile me, antenna gate, GPS tracking gate, the fat iPod nano, etc.

Because there are some things that are not in dispute.  It was impossible to buy an iMac for months, for instance.  While having more demand than supply is a good thing, it's only good if you can eventually fill that supply.

You're commenting without actual numbers too, aren't you?

But I never claimed it was a success. You claimed it was a dismal failure without facts. I'm saying let's wait for the numbers.

I most certainly did not.  Don't you realize that everyone can see what I claimed?  It's right above, FYI.
