2. If you read the last article on it, this has been in existence for years. Pre-Cook. So if it is directly owned by Apple, that completely destroys your little bit of FUD.
Curious as to what your response is to his 2nd point, or maybe an explanation of why you left that part of his post out and didn't quote it?
1. Do we know that this is actually "Apple's" store?
2. If you read the last article on it, this has been in existence for years. Pre-Cook. So if it is directly owned by Apple, that completely destroys your little bit of FUD.
3. The real point of article was to shamelessly plug a 3rd party site that gives AI a cut
Apple has sold refurbs from an eBay store for like 2.5 years. Easy mistake for TS to think this was that store. But the official store sells APPLECARE not Geek Squad. This might be official Apple product but this store is likely not Apple run
Wish AI would stop going on about the 17% drop as if all of Apples changes are related to it.
The reason for the drop was the monumental cockup of the iMac refresh & nothing else.
The iMac release was certainly a contributor, but I wonder if some of the issues we've seen discussed here factored in too? Do we know notebook numbers for last year? Maybe buyers don't like the new designs. We also saw some sticker shock when the Retina machine came out so people may have decided the new machines are just too expensive. Then there are the Pro tower buyers who are obviously waiting on hold. Would they represent a large enough group to affect the numbers?
Around here we've held off updating three out of four machines over the last twelve months or so while we figure out how (or even IF) our needs and wants are best satisfied by the current line-up.
My last few MBP purchases were via the education store for my kids, but I have bought Apple reconditioned MBPs through SmallDog in the distant past and they were excellent machines. This is great to get more Macs out to the masses. Next they should be selling Refurbed MBPs at Target.
I almost always use macmall for the most part. Whatever is least expensive and is an authorized seller. Although I've bought used macs before and never knew where I bought it from, and they still honored any problems with Their warranty and I could also buy AppleCare to extend it.

I haven't had problems with MacMall for quite a while. I did have a major problem back in the Mac clone days. I bought a Motorola clone which they said would ship within x number of days. It turns out that they didn't have them and didn't even have a scheduled delivery date when they too my order. I gave them a couple of weeks, but when it was clear that they had no idea when they could ship, I canceled the order and bought an Apple Mac.
Yours is a silly comparison -- the Education Store is clearly and plainly identified as an Apple-owned store. This eBay store is not.
All the major electronics manufacturers that I do business with also clearly identify their eBay stores, which I think is the moral thing to do. While there is probably no legal requirement to do so, I simply would like Apple to have a similar moral compass.
Why don't either of you explain exactly what Apple has done that's unethical or dishonest - either now or in the past.
There's absolutely nothing dishonest about having different prices for different retail outlets. As I said, it's amazing to see the Apple haters who attack Apple for not discounting. When Apple discounts, they attack Apple for that.
Did Steve Jobs steal a girlfriend from you or something?

You quoted and responded to his first point, but you didn't quote his 2nd point and or comment on it either.

And of course the article can't be incorrect.

Apologies; you're absolutely right. Not this specific seller, but similar ones.

I think a lot of it is just perception. There was nothing fundamentally honest about the last CEO.
